What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dispatch supervisor position at Drake?
Responsibilities :
- Assist and guide dispatch operators in resolving problems with the loading process to ensure safe and efficient operation.
- Cover dispatch and security positions as needed during vacancies to ensure 24 hours of operations are achieved.
- Identify problems with equipment failures, develop solutions, and schedule repairs with other departments to keep products flowing and provide uninterrupted service to customers.
- Write schedules for both departments and cover vacant shifts to ensure all shifts are covered as required for 24-hour operations.
- Attend meetings as required to stay informed of plant operations, safety updates, and other important information that may impact dispatch or security operations to ensure the safe operation of dispatch and security.
- Enter new trucks, trailers, and haulers into SAP to ensure compliance with DOT regulations regarding BOLs.
- Input PRs and Service entry sheets for products ordered or services performed by vendors to schedule work, order essential items, and ensure work is performed, items are ordered, and vendors receive payment for their services.
- Schedule quarterly maintenance for the scales and trouble calls to ensure compliance with DOT regulations regarding accurate weights.
- Communicate / resolve issues with the billing department (BOL Issues) to ensure customers are properly billed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities :
- Mechanical and operational knowledge of dispatch equipment and ability to troubleshoot.
- Knowledge of operations of both security and dispatch departments.
- A high school diploma or GED is required.
- Supervisory or dispatch experience is required.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
