The Janitor Helper A Trainee reports directly to the Head Janitor (property engineer), and while specific responsibilities will vary, the janitor helper will be responsible for general cleaning, removal of refuse, sweeping and dusting of common areas, and responding to work tickets.
Membership in the Union may be a requirement at this location. The ability to multi-task and be adaptive to changing responsibilities while keeping a positive attitude is crucial.
Responsibilities
- Cleaning including vacuuming carpets, refuse removal, cleaning of chute rooms, sweeping and mopping, snow removal
- Assist in maintenance and emergencies as needed
Qualifications
- Experience working in multifamily facilities
- Light plumbing, minor electrical and HVAC skills are needed
- Educational requirements as based on union
- Must be a self-starter and able to multi-task
- Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment which may require working holidays, weekends and nights based on needs at site location and in cases of emergency
- Strong time management, organizational and problem-solving skills
