What are the responsibilities and job description for the Software Engineer II Hybrid position at DRB?

Essential Functions:

Illustrative duties may include, but are not restricted to, one or more of the following:

  • Contribute to the ongoing evolution of the existing portfolio of applications and services.
  • Design, develop, modify, implement, and support software components anywhere in the Software stack.
  • Work with the team in task planning, estimation, risk assessment, and scheduling.
  • Implement quality code according to DRB’s approved software development methods.
  • Submit code for and works with the team in regular code reviews focusing on architecture, styles and standards, and functionality.
  • Meet stated milestone dates and deadlines.
  • Document and demonstrate solutions by developing documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, code comments and clear code.
  • Work with other departments such as QA and customer support on escalated technical issues.
  • Determine root cause for the most complex software issues and develop practical, efficient, and permanent technical solutions.
  • Perform unit level test code for quality and functionality.
  • Work alongside other engineers on the team to elevate technology and consistently apply best practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

The right candidate will have:

  • BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field.
  • 5 years of experience demonstrating increasing levels of responsibility in complex systems and engineering environments or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of software architecture, design, security, and cryptography concepts.
  • Proficient with C#, JavaScript, HTML CSS, and SQL (MS SQL preferred).
  • WPF experience is a must
  • Experience with .NET Framework, .NET core,  REST.
  • Experience in Windows OS/Server, version/change control software (knowledge of Azure DevOps & Git preferred), and Microsoft Office.
  • Working knowledge of sockets, serial communications, multi-tasking, and general networking.
  • Experience in Windows OS, including threading and services.
  • Ability to debug, troubleshoot and unit test the software developed.
  • Ability to adapt to new programming and work environments quickly.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Experience working in an Agile development process.
  • Strong team-working skills.

 

Preferred but not required:

  • Experience with Windows installers.
  • Azure Experience.
  • Android (Java), iOS (Swift, Objective-C).
  • Certifications (MCPD, MCSD, MCSE, MCDBA).

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the individual must be able to remain stationary for 90 percent of the time.  The individual needs to move about inside the office occasionally.  They constantly operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, fax machine, and computer printer.  They must be able to exchange accurate information with customers and employees while interacting. 

 

The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 15 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.

 

Working Conditions:

While performing the duties of this Job, the individual is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate. The individual frequently works in a controlled climate.  The individual is occasionally required to travel by automobile and/or a commercial airline.
