Summary (Major Purpose of the Role):
Executes company policies and programs meant to promote building and employee health and safety. Provides leadership, coaching, and proactive environmental, health, and safety solutions to ensure federal, state, and local compliance.
Main Activities/Responsibilities:
• Perform documented weekly inspections to maintain the cleanliness, orderliness, and safety of all work areas, employees, machinery, and safety equipment.
• Oversees security providers and manages day to day concerns.
• Evaluate all onsite processes for potential hazards by completing Job Hazard Analysis and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Hazards Assessments.
• Implement site specific hazard control and mitigation methods, procedures, and programs.
• Certifies, coordinates, and conducts any new and reoccurring required safety training for all shifts and departments for all employees and contractors. Responsible for all new hire orientation safety training for all associates and contractors.
• Responsible for training the internal equipment trainers.
• Maintain safety training records and certifications, incident reports, WSIB logs and OSHA logs.
• Implement and lead the monthly Safety Committee meetings.
• Update and manage Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
• Manage the inventory and or purchase of required PPEs and First Aid Cabinets.
• Lead safety related incident investigations and reports with detailed documentations in a timely manner.
• Collaborate with Human Resource and onsite management for incidents involving injuries, Workers Comp claims, and substance testing. Provides input on severity and recommends corrective action, up to and including termination. • Ensure Confined Space, Lockout/Tag Out, and Hot Work procedures, are followed by all employees and contractors.

• Implement site specific emergency response procedures and drills and lead the emergency response teams.
• Ensure the proper disposal of universal and hazardous waste.
• Ensure that OSHA, state, and local regulatory and statutory requirements are met as well as the company’s Environmental, Health, and Safety programs and policies. • Liaise with management to plan and deliver informational and educational safety information and changes.
• Conduct safety meetings and safety toolbox talks as needed with all employees, shifts and departments.
• Participate in audits and inspections as necessary.
• Prepare weekly safety statistics and other reports as requested for the Corporate EHS Manager. • Perform other duties as assigned.

• Proficient understanding of written and verbal English.
• An understanding of HIPAA privacy laws and the need to guard personal employee as well as company information.
Reporting Relationships and Supervision:
• Reports to the Corporate EHS Manager under the supervision of the site Director of Operations and Manager of Operations.
Education and Experience:
• Associate degree in related field, safety related certifications (First Aid Trainer, Forklift Trainer), or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience; CSP (Certified Safety Professional) certification a plus.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in Safety preferred.
• Job specific knowledge in environmental compliance, OSHA/CCOHS compliance, ability to research, read, interpret, and apply rules and regulations.
• First aid/CPR/AED/OSHA 30 certified or willing to obtain certification within 3 months of hire
