Summary:
The VP of FP&A is the strategic financial partner to the CFO, CEO and other members of the Executive Leadership Team. This individual will generate insights that impact enterprise-level financial performance and value creation. The VP of FP&A is responsible for the overall performance and development of the FP&A team, and the effectiveness of enterprise-wide FP&A processes. This role is responsible for overseeing a financial planning organization driving enterprise performance management and reporting, including setting targets and holding the business accountable for results.
Main Activities/Responsibilities:
- Maintain performance reporting, analysis, financial planning / forecasting.
- Leads FP&A team by establishing objectives, vision and measurement of success. This role sets the tone for the group and organizes the team to efficiently achieve goals through delegation and accountability.
- Develop a superior, high-performing Finance team that meets increasing needs and requirements across the business that help drive the overall organization forward
- Effectively communicate the goals of Executive Leadership so the team is well positioned to support the organization
- Oversee, review, and analyze the sales and production reporting and planning.
- Review, guide, manage, and analyze weekly flash reports / monthly forecasts / monthly performance reviews / periodic business reviews / annual divisional budgets / 5-year strategic plan forecasts / close process and cash flow analysis.
- Lead the preparation of financial analysis, commentary, and presentation materials for executive review, board meetings, and Lender presentations.
- Oversee, review, and analyze financial covenant compliance and manage liquidity / working capital.
- Lead the preparation of the indirect cash flow model for budgeting and forecasting.
- Scope, design, implement, and oversee planning system and processes.
- Lead and oversee the preparation of the annual budgeting and periodic forecasts.
- Develop financial analyses, perform business intelligence that supports analytical planning assumptions for key business drivers.
- Support the company’s key strategic initiatives
- Lead efforts to support the senior management team for key capital markets efforts that are critical to maintaining an efficient capital structure.
- Lead efforts to support strategic / financial decisions (divestitures, M&A, expansions) through timely analyses, planning, execution and integration efforts.
- Support key transformation projects designed to improve operational efficiency.
- Provide support to strengthen internal controls for the business.
- Actively review month end close financials using knowledge of business activity to provide assessment of completeness and accuracy.
- Provide guidance to proactively identify and remediate control deficiencies with respect to core reporting and planning business processes.
Competencies:
- Previous P&L / BS / Cash Flow responsibility along with a thorough understanding of strategic and operational planning and forecasting techniques.
- Experience with financial planning and reporting at corporate and business unit level, financial modeling and analysis, and capital and cash budgeting.
- Exceptional analytical and financial analysis skills.
- Strong systems aptitude and proficiency, including expert Excel skills. Proficiency in other Microsoft Office applications is strongly preferred.
- Experience with performance management scorecards, and development of KPIs.
- Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously with superior attention to detail.
- Exceptional communication skills with ability to present analysis and findings in both verbal and written formats to all levels of management.
- Demonstrated strong teamwork and leadership skills; strong interpersonal skills along with exceptional influence and change management skills.
- Effective at driving change and managing teams to achieve desired goals. Capable of articulating a vison or plan, gaining commitment to action and managing through others to achieve results.
Reporting Relationships and Supervision:
- Provide decision support to functional business partners such as Operations, Procurement, Marketing, IT, and HR.
- Partner with functional business partners to define, implement and report operational performance metrics that assist operations to achieve strategic objectives.
- Support Operations and functional leaders (i.e., IT, HR, Procurement, etc.) to identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency.
- Educate operational / functional personnel on financial metrics, business drivers, and financial implications of activities and decisions.
- Assist divisional finance personnel in adopting best practices across business unit platform.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. MBA/CPA/CFA/CMA preferred.
- Over 15 years of progressive/transformative financial planning and analysis and corporate finance management experience in multi-national companies.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in a leadership position in a complex, progressive, planning and analysis environment.
- A minimum of 10 years in finance leadership role developing high-performing talent and directing high-performing team(s).
