Project Description

DRT is looking for experienced IT Project Managers to join our fast-growing technology practice.  At DRT, you will be engaged on projects utilizing a variety of technologies from established but ever-changing platforms such as SharePoint to cutting-edge implementations such as Robotic Process Automation (RPA) and products like ServiceNow.  You will also interact with our IdeaLab, DRT’s internal new technology and innovation proving ground that both supports technical projects and explores new areas for the company to delve into. 

Most importantly, we are looking for people to bring an Agile mindset and skillset to DRT.  We practice general Agile Scrum across our technical projects as well as SAFe as needed and strive to integrate Agile thinking not just into our methodology but our company culture.

Job Summary

Our IT Project Managers run technically oriented projects and are responsible for implementing DRT and industry standard methodologies to execute these projects, and handle traditional PM duties such as scope, staffing, quality, schedule, risk/issue, and cost management.  We do not expect every IT PM to be a deep technical expert in all the technologies their projects may entail, but you should be able to understand what needs to be done and work closely with a Technical Lead and your team to ensure they are getting what they need to accomplish the work.

Responsibilities

  • Traditional PM duties such as scope, staffing, quality, schedule, risk/issue, cost management for the project as well as internal DRT responsibilities such as leading monthly project Technical Reviews with DRT’s internal Quality Team.
  • Leading the team via an Agile methodology – generally Agile Scrum in combination with any client methodology.  Utilize and comply with DRT’s Project Management Lifecycle (PMLC) as part of this.
  • Collaborate with the Technical Lead to understand what needs to be done at a high level, help validate the approach and coordinate approval and continuous adjustment as needed with the client.  This can take the form of CONOPS, Current and Future State Architecture diagrams, technical Analysis of Alternatives (AoA), and other technical direction documentation.
  • Drive JAD sessions as needed both internally and with the client.
  • Collaborate with the Technical Lead to ensure that relevant questions that the technical team needs are driven out and timely answered during client JAD sessions and continuously throughout the project.
  • Collaborate with the Technical Lead to ensure the team has the tools and access they need, proactively identify and help the client procure tools as needed.
  • Be the main point of contact for the client, drive client meetings and working sessions.
  • Develop collaborative working relationships with the DRT Team, as well as with the key stakeholders.

Required Experience

  • 5 years managing IT projects for Federal Government clients of at least 5 people – IT projects can include both O&M and DME work
  • Active PMP
  • Active agile certification such as CSM, CPO

Preferred Experience

  • Active SAFe certification
  • Active technology certifications from vendors such as Microsoft and AWS
  • Experience with the Microsoft technology stack

Education and Training

  • Required: Bachelor’s Degree
  • Required: Degree in a technical area such as Computer Science, Information Systems, or combination Business/Technical degrees
