Process Engineer

General Summary:

Coordinates the activities of the production processes, in order to improve process outputs and improve production efficiency with a safety and quality first mentality.  Develops, evaluates, and improves production methods, utilizing knowledge of, materials, fabrication processes, tooling, molding processes, automation equipment, and production equipment capabilities.  Focuses on cycle time improvements, material utilization improvements, and resource optimization for production processes.   Key operational team member to support operators and technicians in daily trouble shooting as needed.   Coordinates with Design and Product Engineering on new projects, insourcing ideas, new launches, where trials, data, and qualifications are needed to launch from concept to full production quantities. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Ensure equipment and systems adhere to safety requirements, as well as local, state, and federal industry regulations.
• Help drive a safety-first culture within processing decisions and automation schemes.
• Develop, evaluate, improve, and document production and manufacturing processes.
• Provide root cause analysis, troubleshoot problems, and perform and apply engineering studies to assist with problem solving.
• Establish Process controls in order to maintain quality at the point of production in order to satisfy customer and quality specifications.  Use of run charts, Xbar charts, statistics
• Optimize material resources, first past yields, and recycling streams without sacrificing quality of production process outputs.
• Collaborate with design engineering regarding product tooling and design to ensure effectual production methods.
• Design and develop manufacturing processes for enhancements, product changes, and new products, and related fixtures and tooling that are consistent with zero defect levels.
• Analyze delivery and inventory to help production areas find right EOQs and maximize cash flow / inventory right sized.
• Develop, configure, and optimize industrial processes from inception through to start up and certification.
• Design, run, test and upgrade systems and processes.
• Perform risk assessments.
• Provide process documentation and operating instructions.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Training and development of new team members (production operators and technicians).

Qualifications:

• Previous management experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
• Knowledge of Six sigma and lean manufacturing principles.
• Knowledge and experience with EPICOR or any other ERP system.
• Ability to multi-task and drive projects to completion.

Desired Education and/or Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in chemical, industrial, or manufacturing engineering.
• 5 years of experience preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Alternate education and experience considered based on individual candidate.

Language Skills:

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Computer Skills:

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
• Experience with Statistical Software such as Minitab or SPSS

Physical Demands:

• Sitting, standing, bending, as needed for 8 hours per day.

Work Environment:  Manufacturing Facility.

Travel Requirements: Infrequent
