BASIC FUNCTION:
As a member of the architecture and engineering team, the Electrical EIT/Designer is involved with all aspects of complex projects from implementation to construction close out. This position collaborates directly with senior staff performing all aspects of design including project/systems conception, implementation and construction administration of site electrical, power, lighting, emergency generation, one-line diagrams, short circuit analysis, arc flash analysis, mechanical & plumbing equipment and low-voltage support. Performs on assigned projects in a manner that exceeds ownership’s expectations and ensures work adheres to all Drury’s policies, brand standards and criteria.
This position reports to the Director of Engineering.
GENERAL JOB DUTIES:
- Be involved in all phases of the electrical design process including schematic design, design development, construction documents, and construction
- Assists senior engineering staff in the development, review and approval of construction documents including goals and objectives, design schedules, risk management and construction coordination.
- Assists senior engineering staff in the development and preparation of engineering documents, specifications and calculations.
- Assists senior engineering staff with the development of new engineering standards and maintains and improves existing standards and guidelines, implementing industry and company best practices.
- Maintains and fosters contacts with consultants, sub-contractors, vendors and materials suppliers.
- Interacts closely with internal teams to ensure that project needs and objectives are met.
- Interprets drawings, specifications, and documents related to engineering and construction.
- Participates in team meetings and conference calls.
- Assists with all aspects of construction administration including project assignments, review of shop drawings and submittals, quality control, and site visits.
- Helps to evaluate new products and systems, energy savings strategies, and cost saving
- Additional duties as required.
GENERAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY:
- Working knowledge of electrical systems including power, lighting and ancillary equipment sizing and layout.
- Experience in construction document preparation and field observation.
- Proficiency in architectural and engineering designs, concepts and terminology including relevant building codes and electrical standards (IBC, NEC, NFPA).
- Excellent AutoCAD proficiency & Revit experience required. Knowledge of Revit families, levels, modeling, interdisciplinary coordination and keynoting/annotation.
- Proficiency in Bluebeam and Bluebeam Studio including material/dimensional takeoffs, markup creation and ability to adhere to quality control procedure standards.
- Proficient with all aspects of MS Office.
- Other electrical software experience is not essential but preferred including SKM, Lumen Designer and ETAP (or similar).
- Knowledge of building codes, energy analysis, rebates, and jurisdictional processes. Technically fluent with overall experience in applying to normal project conditions.
- Skilled in leadership, organization, business writing, and communication skills.
- Must be able to work independently, multi-task, be a collaborator, possess a can-do attitude, and be a self-starter.
INTELLECTUAL AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION: 2-year associate degree Building Systems Engineering Technology or MEP Technology or 4-year bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering with the desire to advance to a more senior engineering role.
EXPERIENCE: Candidate with associate degree: 3-7 years minimum of progressive experience in a similar position.
Candidate with bachelor degree: 1-3 years minimum of progressive experience in a similar position.
PHYSICAL SKILLS: Requires ability to work at computer for extended periods of time: requires ability to walk and stand for extended periods of time; requires ability to lift 15-25 pounds intermittently; may require ability to lift heavy equipment on an as-needed basis.
TRAVEL: This position requires travel, including but not limited to, travel to local and overnight non-local project sites, training and industry events.
POSITION TYPE/WORK HOURS: This is a full-time position, with a minimum expectation of 40 hours per week.
Salary : $55,100 - $69,800
