Looking to bring on a Purchasing Manager for a leading manufacturer of containerboard and corrugated packaging products, known for its commitment to innovation, sustainability, and customer service excellence. As a key player in the packaging industry they operate a network of mills and converting facilities across the US, serving a diverse range of customers in various sectors, including food and beverage, consumer goods, e-commerce, and industrial markets.
Principal Responsibilities
- Manage the purchasing and storeroom functions, ensuring efficient and effective operations.
- Ensure compliance with all PCA purchasing policies and procedures.
- Hire, train, and develop staff to maintain a high-performing team.
- Procure materials and services in line with organizational needs.
- Prepare Requests for Quotations (RFQs) and bid packages to facilitate competitive purchasing.
- Maintain adequate inventory levels to prevent operational disruptions.
- Ensure the accuracy of storeroom transactions and inventory records.
- Supervise and support buyers, providing guidance and oversight.
- Ensure compliance with the purchasing department’s ISO standards and responsibilities.
- Identify and evaluate alternate sources for materials and services to optimize cost and quality.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Proven supervisory experience in a relevant role.
- Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) certification preferred.
- Over 5 years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
- Position requires on-site presence at the Tomahawk, WI mill; remote or hybrid work is not available.
- Must possess a valid driver's license.

- Strong computer skills, including proficiency with relevant software.
- Highly detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and precision.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong negotiation skills for dealing with vendors.
- Experience in material sourcing and expediting.
- Familiarity with perpetual inventory systems.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Salary : $75,000 - $85,000
