Job Summary
Provides advisory technical support and technical advice to on conditions affecting safe plant operation. Provides advisory technical support to the Operations team in the areas of thermal hydraulics, reactor engineering, and plant analysis on the operations safety of the plant. Assists shift operations personnel to recognize, diagnose, and effectively deal with plant transients or other abnormal plant conditions. Ensures the safe and efficient operation of the plant by supporting priorities on operations planning, scheduling and cost. Leads operations activities through all conditions related to start-up, shutdown power generation, and emergency operations.

Key Accountabilities
- Starts, operates, and shuts down the reactor, auxiliary reactor systems, main steam turbines, generator and auxiliary turbine generator equipment as required.
- Performs emergency operations required for safety reasons and/or to maintain electric services and safeguard station equipment.
- Performs routine tests of the reactor safeguard equipment and radiation protection systems.
- Removes units from service in the event of an emergency and implements established emergency procedures.
- Maintains, reviews and evaluates all operating records to preserve documentation of all operations, activities and responses to any unusual conditions in accordance with Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) specifications.
- Informs operations leadership of any nonstandard conditions or changes to plant status and ensures plan of corrective actions.
- Performs routine work control review, approval and return to service of maintenance work orders and coordinates activities with maintenance supervision.
- Performs routine operations surveillance's, PMs and routines.
- Establishes both short and long-term objectives for plant control and direct personnel in other departments to coordinate activities per the Plan Of Day.
- Provides operations objective to on-shift personnel from the Chemistry, Radiation Protection, Maintenance, Engineering and Security departments as required to ensure completion of scheduled shift activities.
- Provides oversight of plant operations to ensure compliance with regulations, technical specifications, and operations administrative controls.
- Acts as Response team member to unplanned events and prepares detailed reports for submittal to senior management.
- Supports performance improvement initiatives such as assessments, benchmarks, and the corrective action program.
Job and Regulatory Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a scientific or engineering discipline with two years of related nuclear experience specific in response and analysis of the plant, including the capabilities of instrument and controls in the control room.
- Must obtain and maintain Senior Reactor Operator (SRO) license issued by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission.
- Must meet the eligibility requirement of current INPO ACAD for a Direct SRO.
- Must meet the eligibility requirement of current INPO ACAD for a Shift Technical Advisor.
- Completion of INPO Accredited Shift Technical Advisor Training Program.
Other Qualifications
- Ability to handle multiple tasks at one time.
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance and reporting.
- Knowledge of electrical/mechanical equipment, measuring devices, power plant maintenance and precision tools/instruments.
- Knowledge of blueprints/drawings/schematics and general plant and power plant operations.
