Sewer Install Technician

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Sewer Install Technician to join our team. This role requires proficiency in operating various machines and vehicles and the ability to handle physical labor and technical tasks related to sewer system maintenance.

Position Overview:

The Sewer Install Technician plays a crucial role in managing and executing sewer installation projects. This position requires a skilled individual with expertise in sewer systems, installation techniques, and team leadership. The Sewer Install Lead will also oversee a team of installers, ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications and regulatory requirements.

A Typical Day Looks Like:

• Customer Service: Utilize customer service training to educate and assist customers in selecting services, products, and finance options.
• Sewer Cleaning: Remove roots, debris, and other obstructions from clogged sewer lines and drains using a portable electric sewer cleaning machine.
• Pipe Repair: Repair breaks in underground piping by positioning or disassembling the sewer trap machine at the sewer or drain outlet, and removing drain covers using a wrench.
• Equipment Handling: Install rotary blades on a flexible cable mounted on the machine reel, according to the diameter of the pipe being cleaned, and start the machine to feed the revolving cable into the opening. Stop the machine and change knives as necessary to fit the pipe’s diameter or contour.
• Residue Management: Withdraw the cable to deposit accumulated residue removed from the pipe into containers for disposal, and observe residue for signs of mud, indicating a broken sewer line.
• Measurement and Estimation: Measure the distance from the sewer opening to the suspected break using a plumber’s snake, tapeline, or by estimating the position of the cutting head within the sewer.
• Pipe Replacement: Remove and replace broken tile sections or pipes using caulking compound and cement to form watertight joints.
• Jetting Services: Perform jetting services on sewer lines.
• Machine Maintenance: Replace dull cutters and perform repairs on machines using hand tools.
• Safety Compliance: Maintain a safe work area in accordance with company policy.
• Sewer Lining: Perform sewer linings on 4- and 6-inch piping.
• Heavy Equipment Operation: Operate tractors for dig jobs, replace concrete for jobs involving breaking concrete (city sidewalks, residential basements), and replace roads with hot patch if the job entails digging up a city street.
• Vehicle Operation: Drive dump trucks or larger vehicles as required.

What Does It Take?

• Progressive plumbing experience, Journeyman License preferred
• 2 years of underground plumbing experience
• 2 years minimum of excavating experience
• Lining experience preferred but not required
• Valid Driver's License required, CDL a plus
• Supervisory or Lead experience preferred
• Clear background check, Motor Vehicle Report (MVR), and drug screen
• Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on customer satisfaction and educating customers on all options.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Commitment to safety in all aspects of work
• Ability to work independently and/or in a team environment
