The Duggan Investments family office seeking a Biotechnology Equity Researcher with strong emphasis on science.

Duggan Investments manages significant private funds encompassing public equities, private investments, real estate, and other asset types, primarily in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical sectors. We exemplify a small, but highly close-knit, team based in Clearwater, Florida.

We are seeking a Biotechnology Equity Researcher with strong emphasis on science to provide support for investment research and to lead biotechnology reach. This position will work with the Chief Investment Officer on various research projects and companies’ evaluations. This role requires a collaborative cross-functional execution to drive key projects, ability to multi-task, and efficient biotech analysis and research that enables the group to meet objectives in an effective and efficient manner. This person will work in a fast-paced and results-oriented environment. To excel in this role, you need knowledge of biotech and biomedical research, ability to analyze biomedical data, skills to manipulate data and to conduct biostatistical analysis, and be very curious for research projects. Qualifications

  • An advanced scientific degree (MD or Ph.D.) in biotechnology or medical science-related field
  • 8 years of biotech research experience from academic or non-academic settings such as the biopharma industry, medical industry, investment banking, or consulting
  • Ability to perform extensive fundamental research and analysis of biotechnology companies, pipelines, presentations, abstracts, and papers
  • Working knowledge of MS Office with proficiency in Excel
  • Experience in investment field including private and public equities preferred
  • Experience in clinical trial statistics is a plus
  • Experience in building financial models using Excel is not required but it is a plus

Position Responsibilities

  • Provide analytical, forecasting, reporting, and project support to management
  • Perform deep fundamental equity research, sector research, and industry analysis in order to assess the viability of a company and determine its prospects. This requires reading company SEC filings, investment research reports, and industry and sector news to gather facts, rather than relying on opinions
  • Clearly present investment conclusions and recommendations to CIO and CEO. In order to be successful, this position requires significant independent thought to form well-founded investment opinions based on adequate, relevant and verified data
  • Monitoring biotech companies’ pipelines, new breaking therapies, PDUFA or other important FDA dates, biotech news, and other material information
  • Conducting proprietary research evaluating drug pipelines by analyzing preclinical and clinical data, attending medical conferences, and speaking with key opinion leaders
  • Writing research reports for initiations of coverage, analysis of data, and industry/company news
  • Creating clinical trial statistical models/analyses
  • Delving into intellectual properties, the patent law, and litigation related to biotech and pharmaceuticals
  • Significant ability to balance multiple tasks at once as we are an active team and equity markets are dynamic
  • Support business development activities through various forms of due diligence
  • Conceiving and executing on differentiated project ideas
  • Interfacing with company management teams, internal sales and trading personnel, and institutional investors

About You

  • Experience working as a biotechnology researcher/investigator
  • Detail oriented, highly motivated, and a self-starter
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment
  • Energetic, enthusiastic, and willingness to take initiative
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word and Excel required)
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize workload
  • Ability to work well with others under deadline situations and respond to changes in priorities
  • High level of integrity and trustworthy of confidential material related to company operations with strict adherence to professional ethics
  • Resourceful and possesses critical thinking skills
  • Strong work ethic and a positive attitude

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $130,000 per year commensurate on experience

Bonus: Discretionary bonus
