Dr. Yang’s lab at Duke Department of Medicine has an NIH/NIDDK-funded position for
a postdoctoral fellow to study the mechanisms underlying hypertension pathogenesis and
hypertension-associated end-organ damage.

Responsibilities
- Performs various complex technical duties involved in conducting chemical, biological
research purposes; compile, analyze, document and draw tentative conclusions from
experimental results.
- Managing transgenic mouse colonies
- Confer with the principal investigator to review work assignments and develop plans for
techniques to meet the needs of the particular equipment as required.
- Review laboratory methods manual, scientific journals, abstracts, and other literature
- Determine and set up instruments, materials, and apparatus and operate laboratory
- Obtain, prepare, mount, and stain tissue, blood, and other substances for microscopic
- Prepare culture media, chemicals, reagents, and solutions.
- Maintain sufficient inventory of material, supplies, and equipment for performing
- Review the work of lower-level laboratory personnel within designated areas and assist
- Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
- Review the completeness or accuracy of the work of others
- Give recommendations, advice, or guidance to others
- Review expenses related to materials and supplies and confirm the grant-budget
