Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in education, marketing, communication, business or public administration or a related field supplemented by four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in program planning, marketing, implementation, evaluation, training or business management experience.

Duties And Responsibilities

- Serves as the coordinator of the County Community Outreach Initiative;
- Provides direct community outreach and development services to the Durham community in facilitation, leadership, strategic planning, team building, and other areas as needed to groups, organizations, and with the County and Cooperative Extension;
- Works with North Carolina State University and Extension Services personnel on initiatives to support and enhance services;
- Consistently provides educational programming to diverse audiences;
- Performs responsible professional and managerial work providing and leading outreach and development initiatives and activities for the community through the Durham County Cooperative Extension department;
- Provide and coordinate direct community outreach and development services to the Durham community in facilitation, leadership, strategic planning, team building, and other areas as needed to groups, organizations, and with the County and Cooperative Extension;
- Coordinate and implement parent advocacy training and parent leadership efforts as part of Extension's Parent Advocacy Program to support families in navigating public schools as well as related customized training and curriculum development, improvement, and evaluation;
- Lead Extension's communications and marketing efforts to promote Community Outreach and Cooperative Extension services and programs in collaboration with other staff;
- Manage and supervise community outreach programs and staff in the department;
- Performs related work as assigned.
- General knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques of public or business administration
- General knowledge of agency objectives, procedures and organization
- Ability to devise detailed procedures and methodology
- General knowledge of modern office practices, procedures and equipment
- Ability to plan, organize and direct the work of others
- Ability to communicate ideas effectively, both orally and in writing
