AV rate insurance defense law office is seeking a Legal Assistant in their Orlando office to support attorney(s) through the life-cycle of litigation cases. 3 years minimum of current insurance defense litigation support experience preferred and verifiable steady employment history required.
Duties:
- Organizes cases by establishing and organizing files; establishing calendars; expediting requirements and deadlines; documenting actions.
- Scheduling depositions; preparing and forwarding summonses and subpoenas; preparing and filing discovery requests; preparing responses to opposing counsel's scheduling requests; coordinating hearing and depositions and processing of pleadings and correspondence and use of the e-filing portal.
- Preparation of exhibits and correspondence; scheduling mediation conferences and hearings; drafting pleadings; monitoring and obtaining discovery responses from opposing counsel; initiating and maintaining contact with adjusters and opposing counsel.
- Helps clients by initiating and maintaining contact; preparing clients to answer discovery and keeping clients informed of case status.
- Accomplishes law firm mission by completing other duties as needed.
Skills/Qualifications:
- Working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Products
- Working knowledge of legal administration
- Working knowledge of Case Management software experience a plus (Time Matters & Juris Suite a plus)
- Must have organizational skills
- Must have time management & planning skills
- Must have verbal and written communication skills
- Must have strong computer proficiency
- Must be detail oriented
- Must be dependable
- Able to keep cases and client matters confidential
