We are currently seeking an Assistant Transportation Manager to join our team in Wilson, North Carolina. This is a full-time salary position. Who are we?
We are a nonprofit Head Start organization that was established in 1974. We serve migrant and seasonal farmworker children and families by providing high-quality early childhood education in a safe and nurturing environment. We have 50 campuses across 10 states, and we serve nearly 3,000 children each year.
Your day-to-day
As the Assistant Transportation Manager you will assist the Transportation Manager in planning and organizing the daily operations of the Transportation Department by ensuring the implementation of program objectives and department standards. You will support in the areas of hiring, payroll, route-building, and more as needed. You will be challenged to respond to a variety of issues such as absent drivers, equipment malfunctions, students’ issues, and other related matters. Additionally, as Assistant to the Manager, you assume responsibility for Transportation Operations in their absence.

What makes you qualified:
A Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field and three years increasingly responsible experience in transportation operations including one year in a supervisory capacity. Experience in school district transportation operations is preferred.
Accepted: Associate degree in business administration or a related field and five years increasingly responsible experience in transportation operations including two years in a supervisory capacity to include budgetary oversight. A minimum of 1 years’ experience in Fleet Management and technology applications to include word processing, spreadsheets, and analytical software.
Must maintain insurable driving record and insurance on own vehicle as well as a CDL, Class A Commercial Driver’s License with P and S endorsements.
Extensive travel is required.
Experience working with Latino community, knowledge of the Latino migrant farmworker culture/lifestyle, Head Start experience, and Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus.
Staring Salary: $46,000 - $58,000 depending on experience
