The purpose of the position is to respond in a timely manner to snow events and assisting in completing effective and safe snow removal throughout the areas assigned to along with helping locations outside coverage area when needed. Each Plow driver will have a fully outfitted Plow Truck with Plow and Deicer to complete the tasks. The position is required to perform all tasks in an effective, complete and professional manner and is responsible for adhering to all policies and values of the East End Group LLC. while at work.
Responsibilites:
1. Operates pickup truck with snowplow and decier to remove ice and snow from commercial accounts throughout assigned areas, which require early morning starts, extended hours, and weekend duty including holidays.
2. Responds in a timely manner (within 30 minutes) when called to assist in snow plowing.
3. Ensure that assigned properties under responsibility of this position are adequately and safely serviced when required.
4. At times shoveling of snow, grounds maintenance and other duties as assigned related to facilities and site maintenance might be needed.
5. Inspects equipment on regularly scheduled basis before leaving for a shift. Complies with safety precautions.
6. Maintains clean and ready to go equipment needed for snow removal.
7.Follows all safety rules, policies, and regulations. Able to work independently with minimal supervision to complete the job.
8. Reports all incidents involving equipment’s functioning to Supervisor(s).
9. Must own and be able to use Smart Phone to log services when on site.
Minimum Training and Experience Required to Perform Essential Job Functions:
Must be at least 18 years of age. High school diploma or equivalent, with prior responsible work experience or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities. Applicant must possess a valid Driver’s License - Class A or B with air brake endorsement vehicles also available for driving but need to have the proper license. This position will include testing and review of previous employment record for substance abuse. This position is subject to random drug and alcohol testing pursuant to Department of Transportation rules.
Physical and Mental Abilities Required to Perform Essential Job Functions Language Ability:
1. Ability to explain, demonstrates, and clarifies to others within established policies, procedures, and standards, as well as the ability to follow specific instructions and respond to requests from others. 2. Ability to operate various communication devices including mobile smartphone, and two-way radios. 3. Ability to communicate effectively with department and other company personnel as well as the general public.
Physical Requirements:
1. Ability to operate truck and attached equipment requiring monitoring multiple conditions and making multiple, complex, and rapid adjustments that comes with snow removal.
2. Ability to coordinate eyes, hands, feet, and limbs in performing highly skilled movements.
3. Ability to exert moderately heavy (up to 50 pounds) physical effort in moderate to heavy work, typically involving some combination of climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling.
4. Ability to recognize and identify degrees of similarities or differences between characteristics of colors, forms, sounds, and textures associated with job-related objects, materials, and tasks.
Work Environment and Adaptability:
Ability to work under moderately safe and comfortable conditions where exposure to environmental factors such as temperature variations and extremes, noise, vibrations, machinery, wetness, snow / ice for weather, vehicular traffic and/or dust, may cause some discomfort and where there is a risk of injury.
SUPERVISORY AUTHORITY: None.
SPECIAL NOTES: Candidates that get hired will be required to attend special training before the season starts. If training is not attended candidate will not be able to start working snow storms until they pass the training and competency assessments of the information. Specific dates and information will be discussed during interview process.
