Job posting: Summer Job Coach
Status: Seasonal, June 24-Aug. 16, 2024, 30 hours/week
Schedule: Monday-Thursday, 9-4:30pm
Reports to: Program Manager
Broad Scope and Function of Job:
The Summer Job Coach provides supervision, coaching and job skills training for youth interns hosted by our two community-based youth programs. The position partners with the program manager to provide initial training and orientation for the summer interns, meets bi-weekly with each intern to provide coaching and developmental supervision, and works to address challenges that may arise. One Job Coach is hired to float between our two community-based sites, supporting up to 15 youth interns:
Luxton Learners: Luxton Learners operates from Luxton Park in SE Minneapolis and serves a diverse group, including East African, African American, Indigenous, and mixed-race youth living in or nearGlendale Townhomes.
Mulberry Junction: Mulberry Junction operates from East Side’s main campus at 1700 Second St. NE in Minneapolis and serves a diverse group of youth and families from across NE Minneapolis.
Major Job Responsibilities:
Is responsible for but not limited to the following functions:
Employment Training/Coaching (65%):

Assist Program Manager with training and orientation for summer teen interns.

Provide 1:1 and group mentorship, coaching and support to help them build strong employment skills.

Create development opportunities for teens, including resume writing and interview skills workshops.

Address inappropriate workplace behavior and coach desirable replacement skills.

Implement strategies and skill-building techniques as provided by internship partners.
Administrative (20%)

Serve as the primary contact for STEP-UP Minneapolis and ESNS Employment programs.

Assist with managing intern timesheets to ensure proper documentation for partners.

Partner with program manager to document and analyze program outcomes.
Program Support (10%):

Attend program meetings and trainings, participate in program evaluation and continuous improvement.

Communicate with site staff to understand program goals, activities and expectations of interns.

Actively participate in orientation and training to gain the necessary understanding to carry out Youth Department and program goals.
Other (5%):

Other responsibilities as assigned by the Program Manager.
Qualifications
Job Requirements and Qualifications:
Education:
-
Must have completed at least two years of post-secondary education. An associates or bachelors degree in child development, Human Services, Education, or related field preferred.
Experience:
-
At least 4 years of post-high school employment experience.

Experience working with urban youth and families in a community-based setting especially teens new to the workforce.

Experience coaching and mentoring youth with a focus on workplace readiness, communication skills, conflict management, and time management.

Experience running a group, understanding group dynamics and how to increase youth engagement.
Compensation: $22 per hour
