What are the responsibilities and job description for the Direct Support Professional position at Easter Seals UCP?
We currently have immediate positions available to support our ICS (Individual & Community Supports) Program within the Currituck, NC area. This position will require availability Sunday-Thursday 8am-4pm.
Position Summary:
Under the supervision of the Program Supervisor or designee, the Direct Support Paraprofessional provides respite, personal care and personal assistance and/or habilitative services to individuals supported by the ICS program. These services exclude those that are considered re-habilitative in nature.
Essential Job Functions:
- Assists with identifying individual goals.
- Assists in developing and monitoring outcomes and adjusts as needed.
- Assists individuals we support with inclusion.
- Respects the dignity and individuality of each individual and his/her right to confidentiality.
- Assists individuals we support with daily needs.
- Ensures that the safety, health, hygiene and nutritional needs of the individuals we support are met.
- Lifts and transfers individuals we support as needed.
- Assists individuals at learning and increasing skills in all areas of independence. This includes, but is not limited to: Self-help skills, independent living skills, accessing community resources and pursuit of leisure activities. If an individualized plan exists, this document serves as guide for these supports.
- Completes required paperwork (may vary by location) accurately and as required by program.
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent required for all services provided.
- Two years experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, preferred.
- Ability to work independently, handle multiple responsibilities and assigning priority to activities.
- Ability to manage the goals of multiple individuals and families on a timely basis.
- Must complete and maintain current Easter Seals UCP training curriculum, which includes, but not limited to the following:
- CPR/First Aid, NCI (as appropriate), Medication Administration (as appropriate), OSHA/BBP training, core competencies and other trainings relevant to position as defined by local program guidelines.
- Must have a valid, unrestricted, state appropriate driver’s license for the State of North Carolina.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.00 per hour

PPE is provided to all Direct Support Paraprofessionals to ensure safety throughout the pandemic, during their job duties.
