Foreman

Currently we are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Asphalt Foreman with knowledge of paving equipment and practices with a background in heavy/highway and site development construction. The Asphalt Foreman is a working foreman position and will work hands-on to lead the crew and run the job.

Job duties include:

• Ensure safety practices, regulations, and procedures are strictly and continuously adhered to in order to maintain a safe work environment and in compliance with OSHA requirement; conduct safety meetings and inspections.
• Lead the field operations to ensure quality and productivity always looking a few days ahead to anticipate needs and potential issues.
• Coordinate daily tasks according to priorities and plans, adjusting as necessary due to weather, supplies, and personnel.
• Review and examine plans and specifications; layout work and control activities of construction crew for conformance with work rules, policies and directives; and inspect work to ensure adherence to plan specifications and paving standards.
• Review progress of project on an ongoing basis, identify problems and take steps to resolve problems as they arise, and make suggestions for improvement.
• Continually look ahead to anticipate needs and potential issues at least two days out.
• Instruct, train and supervise skilled and unskilled workers in proper operation and maintenance of equipment and tools, use of materials and performance of construction manual labor and provide constructive feedback.
• Monitor and manage employee work performance and attendance.
• Accurately prepare and submit administrative reports and paperwork such as: timesheets, equipment and supply usage reports, foreman logs, additional work reports, and accident reports.
• Continuously evaluate way to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes and work cooperatively.
• Recognize and appropriately handle, both peacefully and quickly, any emerging conflicts.
• Perform duties of Laborers and Operators as needed.

To be successful in this position, candidates must have:

• At least five years of Asphalt/Paving experience and three years of supervisory experience.
• Valid driver s license
• Knowledge of paving standards and specifications
• Ability to work with a team and provide leadership
• Ability to read and understand project plan
• Attention to safety and quality
