We are proud to partner with a well-established electronic manufacturing company in the search for a Jr. Accountant to oversee the Accounts Payable function. This role will be responsible for the weekly payment processing, timely invoice and payment posting. The position requires initiative, problem-solving skills, judgment, and knowledge of accounting principles and accrual basis accounting procedures. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Obtains required signature and coding approval.
- Timely posts and processes invoices, credit, and debit memos.
- Prepares weekly disbursement of wires and/ or checks.
- Obtains necessary signatures and ensures timely payments are made to vendors.
- Files and maintains payment vouchers in an orderly manner.
- Reconciles and researches accounts payable issues.
- Examines records of amounts due and makes sure invoices are paid according to terms.
- Updates monthly warehouse reports.
- Updates daily cash report and daily profit report.
- Monthly intercompany Debit Note reconciliations.
- Sales and Use tax reporting, payments, and accruals.
- Intercompany – Responsible for understanding the quarterly balance confirmations, monthly subsidiary invoicing for commissions and expense bill backs and monthly / quarterly netting to parent and subsidiaries. Responsible for verifying intercompany confirmation from other subsidiaries.
- Performs month end AP closing by processing AP journal entries, balancing AP, and creating month end AP aging reports.
- EIS Cost Center reporting.
- Updates all work instructions and business processes as they relate to AP and Inter Company.
- Performs internal audits as required.
- Vehicle registration renewal and other DMV related work.
- Annual and semi-annual physical inventory reconciliation and roll forward(s).
- Annual and semi-annual operating plan support.
- Suggests improvements in processes to increase effectiveness of unit.
- Performs other related duties and projects as assigned by management, including but not limited to segregation of duties assignments.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of accounts payable practices.
- Knowledge of and skill in using computer software, including MS Excel and Word. 3. Skill in operating 10-key by touch.
- Ability to pay close attention to detail.
- Ability to organize and prioritize tasks.
- Ability to communicate with co-workers, and business contacts in a courteous and professional manner.
- Ability to work with general supervision.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
