Eaton’s Electrical Sector is currently seeking a Quality Technician to join our team. This position is based at our Amarillo, TX facility.
Schedule: Flexible but approx. Monday-Friday, 10 am - 6:30 pm. This role starts at $20.62/hr
Position Overview:
The Quality Technician will perform inspections, report, record, and organize standard testing and monitoring procedures for the foundry and factory operation to ensure customer quality standards are met.
The Quality Technician is required to engage with Manufacturing supervisors and group leads to have deviations from standards addressed as well as to implement opportunities for improvement.

In this function you will:
- Interpret drawings, schematics, formulas, and standards that are required for establishing and maintaining quality process and production operations performed in both the foundry and factory
- Complete daily process/production reports, inspection and testing of new and/or modified tooling, developing an issuance of process/production control standards, investigation of customer complaints, and the overview of quarterly UL/CSA process inspections.
- Perform, operate, and maintain lab functions such as chemical inventories, mixing & standardizing chemicals into solutions, and organization and cleaning of the lab.
- Monitor and respond to process/production alarms, reports, and recordings of various operations, and the ability to make corrective adjustments and/or initiate corrective actions, on operations such as the sand control system, molding and pouring operations, core operations, clean & inspection operations, and machining.
- Monitor, track, and record gauge control calibrations and control, and initiate and handle packing and shipping of gauges for calibration.
- Initiate follow-up inspections and/or corrections for tooling used in foundry core and mold operations, as well as factory materials purchased and/or modified for process & production operations such as plugs, nipples, screws and covers.
- Perform and/or assist lab testing, data collection, recording, reporting, and filing test results of various process/production operations that will include the compatibility, moisture, and green strength testing of the sand control system, grain fineness testing of raw core and mold sands, tensile testing and chill testing of iron production, spectrometer calibration and operation, methylene blue testing of molding sand and acid drop testing of plating thickness.
- Support in developing and implementing Visual Management practices, including charts maintenance, creation of Information / display boards, etc.
- Lead/ facilitate problem solving, continuous improvement Initiatives or A3 projects.
- Create forms, templates, and instructions to support and lead data collection and problem-solving efforts
- Operate hand and power tools to design, fabricate and install a variety of fixtures, carts, tables.
- Procure small equipment, supplies as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Required (Basic) Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution
- Minimum of 1 year of general labor experience
- Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future
- No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates within a 50-mile radius of (enter location) will be considered. Active Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.
Preferred qualifications:
- 2 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment
- Associates degree in Engineering are preferred
- Previous Quality or Continuous Improvement experience
- Previous experience using Minitab, Visio, SAP, SharePoint
- Familiar with at least one variation reduction / problem solving methodology such as: Six Sigma, Shainin Red X, A3 etc.
Position Criteria:
- Math and analytical skills with the ability to calculate percentages and generate charts on excel to define project baselines and estimate improvements.
- Must be a problem solver with a bias for action towards achieving planned results.
- Basic computer skills (MS Excel, MS PowerPoint).
- Competent with common shop tools/equipment.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to plan, organize, and schedule work to meet deadlines.
