Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Peer Mentor to join our team. As a Peer Mentor, you will provide support and guidance to individuals who are facing mental health challenges and/or addiction issues. Your role will involve utilizing your own lived experience to inspire hope, promote recovery, and empower individuals to achieve their goals. We are looking to hire:
Long- and short-term paraprofessionals to work with clients in the Chippewa Valley and Eau Claire area. Rate of pay varies based on experience and credentials. You will be required to pass a background check and complete training.
Flexible scheduling and paid drive time responsibilities include traveling with clients, case notes, and team meetings. We are noticing that there is a need for male mentors specifically in our area.
Attention College Students:
Are you looking to have fun this summer? We are currently looking for short-term paraprofessionals for our summer program. Requirements include a background check and completion of training programs.
Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one mentoring and support to individuals in need
- Share personal experiences and recovery journey to inspire hope and resilience
- Assist individuals in setting goals and developing action plans for their recovery
- Utilize motivational interviewing techniques to encourage positive change
- Collaborate with mental health professionals and social workers to develop comprehensive treatment plans
- Conduct crisis interventions when necessary and provide emotional support during difficult times
- Facilitate group sessions and workshops on various topics related to mental health and addiction recovery
- Advocate for clients' rights and help them navigate through the healthcare system
- Maintain accurate documentation of client interactions and progress
Experience:
- Lived experience with mental health challenges and/or addiction recovery is required
- Knowledge of mental health counseling principles, systems, and resources
- Familiarity with social work practices and community resources
- Strong mentoring skills with the ability to build rapport and establish trust with clients
- Crisis management skills to effectively handle challenging situations
- Proficient in motivational interviewing techniques to promote positive change
- Understanding of behavioral health issues and evidence-based treatment approaches
