Job Overview
This position is responsible for leading all aspects of the internal investigations program and supporting elements of organized retail crime program when necessary within assigned area. Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Functions
• Lead the execution of stores asset protection investigations program to identify inventory and profit loss.
• Provide training of all investigative systems, tools/technology and techniques to asset protection leaders and colleagues.
• Facilitate Macy’s interview training and conduct certification process for all participants.
• Actively participate in lead generation, case development and investigative interviews in stores.
• Ability to develop investigations through exception reporting and trend analysis.
• Witness investigative interviews for the purposes of coaching to improved technique and compliance to procedure.
• Coordinate closely with Central Investigations Unit to develop and handle investigative leads expeditiously.
• Manage all major investigations, inclusive of those of significant financial impact, those with complexity and high those with high level of sensitivity.
• Ownership of all internal case administration, inclusive of partnership with Colleague Advisory on dispositions and case approvals within company prescribed time frame.
• Preparation and communication of major investigations to senior leadership.
• Making prosecutorial decisions on internal cases consistent with company guidance and standards.
• Provides testimony in criminal, civil or administrative proceedings on behalf of the company.
• Provides direction and follow-up on all aspects of restitution, including issuance of promissory notes and solicitation of court ordered restitution.
• Coordinates and cooperates with law enforcement agencies (federal, state, local) and prosecuting attorney’s offices in directing investigations and presenting cases for prosecution.
• Maintains global asset protection focus and leadership to support store leadership on external strategies, shortage reduction strategies and talent development of AP leaders and colleagues
in assigned locations.
• Use all investigative and analytical tools, inclusive of RFID technology to analyze trends and patterns.
• Establish business partnerships with Region, Division and Store leadership to accomplish individual and team goals.
• Support and respond to Organized Retail Crime investigations when appropriate, in partnership with Senior Mgr, ORC Investigations.
• Support Supply Chain investigations when appropriate.
• Regular, dependable attendance and punctuality.
Qualifications and Competencies
• High School or GED; Bachelor's Degree from 4-year college or university preferred.
• 3-5 years direct experience. Certification of Macy’s Interviewing program.
• Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to communicate and share information with diverse groups of customers and peers.
• Resourceful and able to adapt quickly to changing priorities
• Resourceful self-starter, works well independently as well as part of a team, and able to adapt quickly to changing priorities
• Ability to work a flexible schedule with retail hours, including day, evening, weekends, and/or holidays
Physical Requirements
• Position may require prolonged periods of standing/walking around store or department
• May occasionally involve reaching above eye level, stooping, kneeling, or crouching.
• Ability to sustain extended periods of CCTV and/or PC screens to facilitate surveillance or analysis.
• Position requires regular physical presence in Macy’s store locations, with an opportunity for remote work, when needed.
• Ability to travel within division/market of responsibility with periodic need to travel overnight based on the needs of the business.
