Duties & Responsitilities
- Facilitate summer day camp curriculum and related activities with youth, including, but not limited to social skills education, new games, arts and crafts, and life skills.
- Develop and deliver enhancement activities, as appropriate, to meet needs of youth and group.
- Deliver family/community involvement activities designed to support program concept.
- Assist Eckerd in maintaining culturally sensitive service delivery practices.
- Participate in in-service and other training as required.
- Adhere to federal and state laws on confidentiality.
- Adhere to safe practices and ensure safe practices by youth in care.
- Adhere to Eckerd philosophy in caring for youth.
- Report any acts, incidents, or conditions that reflect the possibility of inappropriate youth to youth or staff to youth relationships.
- Report any use of physical force and all unusual incidents per Eckerd guidelines.
- Maintain required certification, if applicable.
Specialized Instruction Specific Duties (check one)
☐ Academic Enrichment Instructor: Responsible to take students ages 5-13 through online learning programs and other fun academic activities to assure that they achieve required skill attainments in language arts and math.
☐ Dance Instructor: Responsible to teach the art of dance to students ages 5-13 in a learning environment with safe movements that spans different cultures. This will include teaching the concepts, creating and implementing choreography for end of program performance.
☐ Art Instructor: Responsible to teach students ages 5-13 various types of Fine Art, Free Hand Art and lead them in completing craft projects.
☐ Music Instructor: Responsible to teach students ages 5-13 various types of Vocal Music. Prepare a Vocal Music Presentation for the Variety Show at the end of camp.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalency preferred. High school students considered.
- One year working with youth in related activities. Experience in any direct human service helping role useful. Experience working with families in supportive and developmental capacity a plus.
- Must have and maintain an appropriate and valid state ID. If licensed to drive, must be able to meet requirements for Eckerd’s Auto Insurance and be able to drive for business purposes.
- Ability to spend extended periods of time in standing/walking/sitting positions in Indoor and outdoor environments. Ability to actively participate with youth in recreational activities. Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. Must be free of communicable diseases as defined by the appropriate state and to the extent that knowledge is attainable under federal law.

Eckerd Connects provides youth services through contracts with Franklin County Department of Job and Family Services to offer comprehensive programming to support youth through academics, social and emotional learning and physical activities. Out of School Time (OST) programs for ages 5-13.
