Position Description
The objective of the Customer Technical Specialist is to provide world class technical support, problem resolution and service merchandising to the Pest Elimination customer. This position will be considered a technical expert in our core pest business (cockroaches, rats, mice and flies) and in other programs and services such as small fly, ants, termites, bed bugs, etc. This position will facilitate and deliver customer site assessments, ensure feasibility of current and new customer programs, merchandising corrective action plans and reports to existing customers demonstrating the value of our programs and services. Successful candidate will reside in our around the Los Angeles/Southern CA market.
Main Responsibilities
The Customer Technical Specialist has accountability for demonstrating the Pest Elimination Division's technical expertise to our customers in:
Pest elimination, pesticide usage, equipment needs and servicing specialized facilities to current and potential customers.
Our ability to service our core pest elimination business of cockroaches, rats, mice and flies
Our ability to service additional programs and services such as small fly, ant, bed bugs and other specialty programs
Responds to time sensitive, high priority situations often involving complex pest problems.In doing so, partners with the sales and service organizations to understand the root cause (s) of the problem then builds and participates in plans to bring about timely resolution.
Provides subject matter expertise to resolve customers' technical issues
Writes detailed and comprehensive reports outlining root causes and actions to resolve pest issues
Provides market/district specific support in areas that need assistance with associate evaluation, technical training/development and problem account resolution
Communicates and takes a lead technical role in merchandising Pest Elimination value to current and potential customers
Deliver customer focused technical training and support activities that support new and existing programs in the Pest Elimination Division. This would include participating in customer facing activities to market new programs, new products, new scopes of service and plan of action results to more proactively market what we already deliver today.
Effectively and proactively ensure the feasibility of current and new customer programs. Actively assess program effectiveness to the unique customer need and expectation.
Keeps up-to-date on all technical issues related to pest management, pesticide usage, safety concerns and changes in the industry
Keeps up-to-date on the changes to the industries Pest Elimination serves and that are impacting the customer
Represents the voice of the customer to provide input to help improve service procedures and solve issues.
Provides input and establishes direction for how to better market and merchandise Pest Elimination programs and services to its customers
Recognizes new programs and services the division, and broader Ecolab, can provide its customers
Participates in the design and delivery of new programs, services and updates
Dimensions Size of Business / Scope
This position provides customer technical support and translates the value of our programs, services and technology for both internal and external customers. May be assigned a specific region within the Pest Elimination Division but will also travel across North America to problem locations or markets to provide support as necessary. It does not have any direct reports but works closely with associates in sales, operations and support functions to increase current and potential customer knowledge about our programs, services, scopes, servicing of specialized facilities and action planning abilities. Primary audience is the external customer but internal customers may also include: Area VP, Operations; AVP, Field Business Operations; VP, Corporate Accounts; AVP, Corporate Accounts; Corporate AccountManagers, Regional Managers and Sales Managers
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and Ecolab experience
(1.5 years of Ecolab experience = 1 year of post-secondary education).
3 years experience in the pest elimination industry with strong technical knowledge including an in depth understanding of Ecolab's core Pest Elimination programs, polices, procedures and standards.
Knowledge in a specialized field such as termites, birds, stored product pests etc.
Currently possess or able to obtain appropriate state certification.
Proficient in MS Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
Travel 60%
Preferred Qualifications
Excellent presentation and verbal/written communication skills
Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to effectively manage their time as well as competing priorities
Ability to identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions in a fast-paced environment
Proven record of developing constructive and cooperative working relationships with others, and maintaining them over time
Associate Certified Entomologist or Board Certified Entomologist.
Industry related four year degree preferred
Annual or Hourly Compensation Range:
Base salary range is $78,000 - $90,000/yrAnnual or Hourly Compensation Range is based on full-time 40 hours per week. Ecolab in good faith anticipates it will pay within the posted range. Many factors are taken into consideration when determining the compensation for a potential new employee such as education, training, experience, work location, travel (if required), etc.
