What are the responsibilities and job description for the Principal Platform Engineer - Global Enterprise Network Observability position at ECOLAB?
The Principal Global Observability Engineer will be a critical member of Ecolab Enterprise Technology's Observability Team. This position is in a high-paced and demanding environment with opportunities to display strong time management skills, self-directed organizational skills, and attention to detail with consistency. This role will work alongside global associates with multi-cultural and multi-lingual backgrounds.
Position Location: This position can sit in either Eagan, MN or Naperville, IL
What You Will Do:
- Daily operational support and customer service to stakeholders' monitoring requests, optimizations, or performance troubleshooting assistance
- Being a key technical contributor to the Observability Team's services and portfolio through process improvements and toolset efficiencies
- Contributing to architectural standards and best practices, engineering and implementing into production
- Participating in major IT initiatives related on full-stack observability initiatives and organizational projects
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or related technical field
- 5 years of monitoring related experience in large, enterprise-class environments
- Observability Industry Standards and Practices experience in the following or similar:
- NetFlow, Packet Inspection, TCP/UDP Monitoring
- SNMP, WMI, RESTful APIs
- Availability, Log, and Performance Monitoring and Analysis
- Web Transaction and Synthetic Testing Methodologies and Scripting
- Application Performance Level Monitoring, ex. User Experience, Open Telemetry
- Automated Pipelines integrating auto-monitoring, ticketing, self-healing concepts
- Development experience in Languages like Python, PowerShell, or other current languages

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud containerization solutions, such as Elastic Cloud on Kubernetes
- Experience with log pipelines and interpreting logs to determine information.
- Experience with Logstash plugins
- Database Concepts
- Microsoft Windows, AIX, Unix, Linux Operating Systems
- Use of Cyber Security best practices in a global organization
