Bioinformatician

At Arc Bio, we are creating novel end-to-end technologies to revolutionize pathogen detection through Next-Gen Sequencing. Our Software and Informatics team is responsible for developing, building, and maintaining software to support our current product goals and our longer-term company mission. We are looking for a Bioinformatician to help develop multi-omic analytical pipelines, provide insight and support for our wet-lab innovations, and collaboratively design tools to better identify pathogenic microbes.

Job description

Essential Functions:

We are a small team, all wearing many hats. Working with internal teams and customers will be essential. Implementing solutions, providing polished analyses, and creating clear documentation is required.

To contribute most effectively, you will:

• Demonstrate an ability to build/document analytical pipelines and tools for next-gen sequencing analysis (DNA-seq, RNA-Seq, ATAC-Seq, ChIP-seq, single-cell). Demonstrated analysis of proteomics/metabolomics a plus.
• Demonstrate an understanding of software development concepts and demonstrated ability to build a software product.
• Apply biological and statistical knowledge to draw rigorous, actionable conclusions from complex data sets.
• Participate in the preparation of written reports, oral/visual presentations, and tool documentation.
• Take initiative to acquire new bioinformatics, statistical or programming skills, as needed.
• Work in a cross-functional team environment using Agile concepts

• Effectively communicate technical ideas to peers, executives, and customers.

Requirements:

Education required/preferred:

• A minimum of BSc. in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, or Equivalent Degree with appropriate experience.
• In Bioinformatics, Computational Biology preferred.

Work Experience:

• Minimum 3 years (0-1 years with MSc.)

Skills/Competencies:

• Python
• R/SAS/SPSS
• Postgres/MySQL/Other RDBS
• Experience with tools utilizing common bioinformatic concepts (short-read alignment, read-assembly, multiple-sequence alignment, differential gene expression, gene pathway ontology). 

Preferred experience

• BioTech/Biomedical experience (genomics is a plus)
• Experience in Linux/Unix
• Cloud Experience (AWS preferred)
