Job Summary
The Drafter is responsible for developing, creating and finalizing all phases of the drafting process based on sketches, past examples and information presented by the Engineer(s) and/or by the Designer(s).
Job Duties And Responsibilities
- Draft technical details and specify dimensions, materials, and procedures using drawings, rough sketches, specifications and calculations using AutoCad as directed by design team members.
- Create drawings using AutoCad as directed.
- Assist Lead Designer in obtaining information in the field to complete drawings.
- Complete additional tasks as assigned.Incorporate drafting design standards as established by Company.
- Interface with project design team members at local and/or multiple Company offices.
- Interface with vendors to determine details associated with the drafting effort.
- Incorporate data from applicable sources; specifically, sub-consultants such as surveyors into drawings.
- Support the project design team in printing and publishing project documents.
- Assist with project file structure maintenance.
- Additional duties as assigned.
- Associates Degree in Computer Aided Drafting and Design or the equivalent strongly preferred;
- Zero to one (1) year related work experience required;
- Postsecondary school training in drafting at a technical institute/community college or vocational High School education/certification may be considered;
- Must be proficient in AutoCAD;
- AutoCAD Plant 3D, Revit and/or Advanced Steel experience (on the job or exposure to software through course instruction) a plus;
- Requires knowledge and ability to work with MS Office Suite of products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access);
- Knowledge of drafting standards, mathematics, science, and engineering technology;
- Knowledge of traditional drafting techniques (if applicable where manual drafting and sketching are used in certain applications);
- Ability to interact effectively with staff at all levels;
- Availability and the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously;
- Availability and ability to travel to client sites on occasion;
- Availability and ability to work overtime as needed based on project.
- Work is primarily conducted in a non-smoking office environment.
- Interaction with other team members, as well as supervisors and client personnel.
- May be required to travel out of town on a periodic basis to obtain project field data or attend project meetings.
- Field duties may require outdoor work in a plant, facility or terminal environment.
- Working in plant and/or shop areas around production machinery with extreme noise levels.
- Must be able to wear safety equipment as required by the safety department for personal protection.
- May be at more than one job site in a day and must be able to tolerate climate changes.
- Must be able to lift and carry twenty (20) pounds;
- Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing or other communication capabilities which permits employee to communicate effectively;
- Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time;
- Sufficient vision or other powers of observation which permits employee to conduct analysis and investigations;
- Sufficient manual dexterity which permit the employee to perform routine office duties;
- Sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexes to perform office duties and travel when necessary to off-site locations.
