We are a business to business supply distribution company that sells products primarily to commercial contractors, industrial businesses, municipalities, and government entities. Additionally, we have a rental department, repair center, customer training, and other professionally customizable services. We have developed a loyal clientele base. Edge is over 71 years old, privately held, and spans 4 states with 8 locations, headquartered in Spokane, Washington. We sell over 30,000 products from over 200 manufacturers, including: power tools, hand tools, safety equipment, abrasives, fasteners, hangers, strut, ladders and a variety of trade specific tools, equipment, & material handling products.
Job Description:
- Sell, quote, and demonstrate products to new and existing customers.
- Work with sales/store manager to grow existing customer volume and develop new accounts.
- Train with and work with inside sales to learn products, processes, and customer service.
- Interface with purchasing to provide quotes on unique specified products for job quotes.
- Read construction plans and specifications to gather list of products, tools, and materials to quote to meet project schedules.
- Travel to customer locations and job sites to understand customers, provide product submittals and provide quotes.
- Communicate with company owners, jobsite superintendents, and other positions within customers’ organizations to understand their needs and provide the right product at the right time.
- Work with computer system for order entry, quotes, and checking product availability/pricing.
Desired Experience & Qualifications:
- 2-6 years of experience in related sales, preferably distribution. Proven track record of growing sales territory.
- Knowledge of market pricing for our products is a plus.
- Knowledge of construction, job phases, sub-trades, plans, and specifications is helpful.
- Need to be self-motivated and organized.
- Ability to meet new people and development professional relationships.
- Customer service & good communications skills are required.
- Knowledge of construction sites to be able to identify any safety hazards for walking/
driving on jobsites.
- Ability to walk jobsites.
- Ability to climb ladders and stairs.
- Knowledge of products and their applications is helpful.
- Need to know or be able to learn quickly computer systems and software used in the sales process. Fluency in MS Office & MS Outlook is a plus. Familiarity with distribution sales/purchasing/inventory software is a plus.
- Ability to perform math calculations of multiplication, division, percentages and applying discounts is required. Experience calculating gross margin is helpful.
- Experience in construction or industrial distribution business is very helpful.
