Principal Responsibilities:
The Edlavitch DC Jewish Community Center (EDCJCC) seeks a full-time Development Manager to join its Institutional Advancement team.
Reporting to the Senior Director of Institutional Advancement, this person will drive donor and prospect identification and cultivation for the EDCJCCs Early Childhood, Youth, and Family (ECYF) and Engagement programs (the EDCJCCs Preschool; the Morris Cafritz Center for Social Responsibility (MCCSR); Jewish Life & Learning; Inclusion & Disabilities; EntryPointDC; and GLOE). The Development Manager will leverage existing programmatic activity in these areas to identify those with interest and capacity and build relationships with the goal of establishing and, over time, increasing annual support.
This role will both build the prospect pipeline for these programs and lead the engagement and solicitation process, engaging with staff as needed.
The Development Manager will also leverage a recent wealth screen of several hundred EDCJCC donors to qualify, engage, and solicit annual gifts, with the end goal of deepening these donors relationships with the EDCJCC for long-term engagement and giving.
Serving as a member of the Institutional Advancement team, the Development Manager will be the teams lead for 3-4 donor appreciation events each year as well as 3-4 cultivation events leveraging EDCJCC programs.
Working in conjunction with the Senior Director, the Development Manager will develop event plans and strategies and work with the development team to execute these events.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Builds and manages a portfolio of 150-200 prospects and secure gifts ranging from $500 to $2,500 from portfolio prospects.
- Leverages relationships with existing donors at the $500 to $2,500 level for longer-term engagement and higher level giving.
- Manages EDCJCC prospect list by continuing to identify, engage, and cultivate programmatic donor prospects.
- Executes development events as listed above.
- Works with director level staff of Engagement and ECYF departments to oversee community outreach and fundraising on signature fundraising projects/events (including, but not limited to, MCCSR Days of Service, Preschool graduation, National Rainbow Seder, and more).
- Ensure complete, accurate, and timely updates are maintained in the CRM as it relates to staff contacts, research notes, and prospect management data.
- Serves as an active member of the Advancement team and assists with key projects and priorities.
- Other duties and special projects as assigned.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
Full-time, salaried/exempt opportunity. General hours are Monday Thursday, 9:00 AM 5:00 PM, 4:00 PM on Friday. Occasional evening/weekend hours required. This person is required to work at the EDCJCC (in-person) two to three times per week.
Salary and Benefits

Minimum Qualifications:
- 4-6 years of related work experience in annual giving, direct mail fundraising, acquisition, or project management.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Must be self-motivated and self-managed; able to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment; have outstanding organizational abilities and keen attention to detail.
- PC literacy with strong competency in all Microsoft Office Suite programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Familiarity with Sales Force fundraising software is a plus.
- Ability to communicate confidently, professionally, and effectively with colleagues, program leaders, donors, lay leaders, and prospects.
- Demonstrated ability to work with and maintain confidential information.
- Friendly and flexible team player attitude with a willingness to pitch in on projects and tasks.
