Job Summary: Provides leadership and oversight of the department functions including responding to bankruptcy inquiries, loan transfer assignments, and filing court documents. Manages the activities of the Bankruptcy department to ensure timely processing and compliance with federal regulations, the bankruptcy code and internal policies. Responsible for coaching, work direction, performance management, and ensuring timely, accurate processing and adherence to procedures, policies, and federal regulations. This role includes a significant level of technical involvement and oversight of complex electronic files and system processes. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Provides support and guidance to staff, account resolution, and policy interpretation Maintains high level of current knowledge of bankruptcy-related code and regulations pertinent to student loan processing; including compliance requirements Brainstorms ways to streamline department processes, increases efficiencies and improve bankruptcy processing; implements and drives those enhancements through team engagement Reviews, develops and implements operational procedures while identifying and addressing issues as well as opportunities for the company Reviews and approves bankruptcy refunds Creates and monitors performance metrics; assesses training needs and oversees training development and delivery Monitors volumes and processing standards to ensure appropriate staffing levels and productivity standards are being met Hires, trains, manages and develops department staff to include coaching, conducting performance management reviews and addressing department issues and concerns Collaborates with other department heads and external entities to identify business and customer needs, develop correlated solutions and align on approach Supports the growth and development of the staff, as well as on-going self-development Provides support to audits and program reviews with internal and external entities Assists with writing requirements for system and process changes, developing test scripts, and performing validation tasks Interacts as integral member of project teams for loan conversions, system upgrades and infrastructure changes Performs other related duties as assigned Required Qualifications High School diploma or GED 5 years supervisory/leadership experience Experience managing operational/processing function 5C security clearance or ability to receive clearance Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree 3 years progressive experience working in the student loan or financial industry To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
