Overview
Egan Company is seeking candidates for an Accountant position for our corporate office located in Brooklyn Park, MN. The Accountant position is responsible for assisting in the month-end close process, including sales tax filing, account reconciliation, journal entries, and various reporting responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Enter and post journal entries, validate accurate input of general ledger account numbers and amounts
- Prepare and update assigned monthly account reconciliation audit schedules while identifying any differences and work with departmental management to resolve any issues on a monthly basis
- Assume full charge responsibility for daily banking activities
- Provide monthly reports to various managers
- Assist with month-end and year-end close process
- Reconcile, report, and file required sales and use taxes
- Assist with tax questions and completion of tax exemption documents
- Provide assistance to the CFO and Controller for a variety of projects/reports as needed. Miscellaneous projects include:
- Provide assistance to the senior accounting staff for a variety of projects/reports as needed
- Assist accounting management team with the preparation and maintenance of the annual budget
- Assist accounting management team during the annual audit
- Provide back-up coverage for the Controller and Senior Accountant to cover PTO
Qualifications
- Required: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a 4 year degree in Business with Finance concentration
- Two years of general accounting experience
- Proficiency in MS Office suite, Google suite along with strong communication and organization skills
- Required: Intermediate to advanced skills in Excel including formulas, pivot tables, formatting, filters, etc.
- Preferred: Experience in a union and/or cost accounting environment is helpful, though not required
- Ability to work independently and assimilate new concepts quickly
- Knowledge of the construction industry is helpful
