Our company is searching for a highly organized professional with strong analytical skills, who is self-motivated to fill the role of Buyer. The Buyer will be responsible for supporting sales efforts in procuring materials that are not stocked, and for arranging the usage of outside services. The successful candidate will also be responsible for evaluating quotes, analyzing inventory, and utilizing product knowledge. Job Duties:
- Submit items for quotation to domestic and international suppliers in a timely manner.
- Negotiate price, quality, terms and delivery via phone and email with suppliers in a global market to achieve the best deal for the Company.
- Manage assigned Product Lines to the appropriate inventory, quality and time-line criteria suitable for current and projected market conditions.
- Sourcing material from suppliers globally for current and non-stock product lines.
- Working closely with the sales organization to fulfill quotations and purchase requests.
- Problem resolution as it applies to suppliers and material issues.
- Resolves discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.
- Expediting orders and maintaining current purchase order schedules.
- Maintain a supply base catalog.
- Maintains product knowledge by continual exploration of industry published standards, intra-company support and external publication.
- Forge and maintain trusted relationships with suppliers to promote partnership arrangement.
- Vendor follow-up to ensure timely delivery of products and compliance with the contracts of purchase.
- Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Skills/Qualifications:
Proven experience as a material buyer or relevant role in the metals business or for distribution
Outstanding communication abilities
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Demonstrable aptitude in effective negotiating
Ability to operate within a fast-paced environment
Up to speed with purchasing best practices
Familiarity with market research, data analysis and forecasting techniques
Excellent knowledge of MS Office
High school diploma; BSc/BA in business administration or relevant field will be considered
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $80,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
