Qualifications

Education

Required: Graduate from an AMA or JRCRTE approved Respiratory Therapy program; current and valid Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)

Licensure/Certification

Required: Current and valid Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license from the Respiratory Care Board of California

American Heart Association BLS

Experience

Preferred: Minimum two (2) years of experience in an acute care facility

Essential Responsibilities
-
Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies, and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations.

Provides patient care in Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation, according to hospital policy and protocols, as well as Medicare and AACVPR guidelines.

Assists with rehabilitation of cardiac patients within scope of practice

Performs patient assessment and evaluation on outpatient candidates for Pulmonary Rehabilitation.

Develops an individual treatment plan and establishes goals with patient, and revises as indicated by the patient’s response to treatment.

Formulates a teaching plan based upon identified learning needs and evaluates effectiveness of learning. Family is included in teaching as appropriate.

Demonstrates extensive knowledge of pulmonary disease, surgeries and therapies.

Identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic and religious/spiritual needs of patients and their families.

Stays current with new treatments/technologies/advancements through continuing education, seminars/conferences, professional journals and societies.

Provides accurate and precise reporting of patient condition and changes in a timely manner to Coordinator and physicians.

Performs charting and documentation that is consistently complete, accurate, legible and informative.
-
Assists unit goals to meet budget.
-
Complies with policies; uses discretion and follows through with areas of concern.

Adheres to hospital infection control guidelines, body mechanics and safety, equipment usage and care.

Demonstrates the care and operation of respiratory therapy equipment according to technical specifications and application of equipment.
