SUMMARY

The Management Consultant provides support and strategic scientific direction for the Division of Laboratory Systems, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Include the following:

• Provide expert level consultation services for NCEH to give strategic scientific direction in scientific areas such as but not limited to research design, methodology, guideline and policy development, research analysis, statistical analysis.
• Researches and/or analyzes scientific issues and advises management on best solution.
• Consults with management and staff on crosscutting research and management projects with other stakeholders, federal agencies, and partner organizations.
• Evaluates research projects and recommends revision, continuations or terminations as necessary.
• Reviews experimental protocols and advises on operational aspects of research projects.
• Reviews and provides interpretation and advice on results of research projects.
• Evaluate the impact of existing datasets and assist in prioritizing branch scientific efforts.
• Draft tutorials and coach scientific staff on collecting and utilizing strategic data.
• Provide expertise in creating or editing process documents to optimize effectiveness in outlining, analysis, meeting, writing, clearing, and publishing papers.

SUPERVISORY/MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY

No supervisory or management authority.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Master’s degree, Ph.D. preferred, and at least 20 years of related experience with 10 years of consulting to the CDC.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suites (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Attention to details.
• Cherokee Federal employees are included as covered employees in U.S. Presidential Executive Order 14042, which mandates Covid vaccines for federal contractors. Executive Order 14042 is currently blocked from enforcement pending court proceedings. Therefore, Cherokee Federal is halting the application of the mandate; however, if the injunction is lifted, Cherokee Federal will restore administration of the vaccine requirement.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work will be performed in a climate-controlled office and laboratory environment.
