What are the responsibilities and job description for the Material Handler position at EK Machine?
SUMMARY
Loads, unloads, kits, and moves materials within the Assembly and Electrical Department at plant 2 and plant 3 by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Performs daily safety inspection of department forklift and completes required paperwork.
- Reads work orders or follows oral instructions to ascertain materials or containers to be moved.
- Kits materials for jobs moving through production
- Complete weekly cycle counting and works with cost accountant on adjustments
- Continuously feeds material for assembly, electrical, and kitting teams
- Maintains inventory locations in ERP system
- Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures products coming in and going out of the department.
- Loads and unloads materials onto or from trucks, pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand or forklift.
- Operates forklift, big red and shuttlelift
- Attaches identifying tags or labels to materials or marks information on cases and other containers.
- Packs ship loose items and completes required –SL paperwork and checklists
- Aides in unloading of incoming generator equipment, labels and organizes the storage locations
- Assists in loading generator equipment
- Locates components.
- Checks, restocks, requests orders of production supplies (ie caulk, tee shirt rags, hose, etc)
- Verifies tool boards are full, replaces missing/broken tools
- General 6S/shop cleanliness/ operates floor scrubber/sweeper
- Helps when needed in assembly functions.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or GED and one to three months related experience/training. Experience in safely operating forklift equipment; ability to obtain and maintain a forklift drivers license.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and memos, as well as operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information one-on-one to other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast paced environment.
