EXP is currently seeking a Building Science Technologist to join our Building Science Team in the Brampton office.

Responsibilities

• Conduct site visits to review the installation of building envelope assemblies in new construction projects
• Conduct field testing of structural and building envelope systems & components
• Conduct assessment of the condition of existing building envelopes
• Prepare assessment reports with solutions including cost estimates
• Assist in reviewing architectural drawings, specifications, shop drawings and submittals
• Provide CADD work as required for restoration projects
• Assist with the preparation of specification
• Conduct field reviews and contract administration of restoration and repair projects
• Conduct reserve fund studies, property condition assessment, and performance audits

 
The Skills and Knowledge You Bring

• University/College education in a related field of study such as Building Science, Architectural Science or Civil Engineering
• Building Science Specialist designation is an asset
• 2-5 years of experience or an advance degree in building science is required
• Experience and familiarity conducting field review and reporting services for Tarion Bulletin 19 mandate is an asset
• Knowledge of building evaluation, design, and construction is required
• Proficient and working knowledge of AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office (i.e., Word and Excel) is required
• Knowledge of simulation tools such as WUFI, Therm and Autodesk CFD are an asset
• A valid driver’s license with own vehicle and travel throughout GTA and Southern Ontario is required
• Well-organized, articulative, and team player
• Good verbal and written communication skills

For the protection of our staff and to meet the needs of our clients, our group has introduced a mandatory vaccine policy. Candidates will be required to show proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 upon commencing employment.
 
Training will be provided for work at height and the use of tools for access height.  

The successful candidate will require excellent organizational skills, strong written and verbal communication skills, will be required to work closely with contractors, other consultants and will report directly to the Project Managers.  WHMIS, Working from Heights and swing stage/elevated platform certification are mandatory for this position. If certification is not training will be provided) but also considered to be an asset for this position.
