POSITION PURPOSE

The Marketing Directors' primary responsibilities include the management of every facet of Elevate’s marketing strategy, including, but not limited to: content, brand, events, advertising/promotions, physical and digital pieces, marketing automation, audience segmentation, and website. The marketing director will provide leadership and direction to the marketing and event team to increase Elevate’s marketing capabilities to include national and global reach. This individual will work hand-in-hand with all departments at Elevate to ensure Elevate marketing is consistent, world-class and intentional. The Marketing Director will have excellent communication skills and have a firm grasp on maintaining costs within a designated budget.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Assuring the organization is in the strongest possible position to increase its operation effectiveness, influence, and likelihood that it can accomplish both its mission and move closer to realizing the organization’s vision. To be successful in this role, an individual must be able to perform in a satisfactory manner the functions listed below.

MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS

  • Oversee Senior Marketing & Communications Manager, Senior Digital Marketing Manager and other marketing consultants or staff brought on to increase marketing effectiveness.
  • Develop appropriate goals/objectives for the team and ensure they are exceeding expectations
  • Working with all appropriate partners, lead the development of the overall marketing strategy to grow audiences for our educational and investments strategies
  • Spearhead the strategic and tactical execution of digital marketing campaigns from conception to results.
  • Spearhead the strategic and tactical execution of local, national and global advertising and promotional campaigns to drive quality leads and encourage participation in Elevate programming, educational opportunities, accelerators, and more.
  • Develop communication strategies and efficiencies that increase brand awareness, drive original content, and make Elevate a thought leader in the entrepreneurial ecosystem.
  • Standup Elevate Podcast
  • Manage vital relationships with key partners, stakeholders, portfolio companies, and investment partners.
  • Oversee the operation of a company’s website and user experience
  • Develop, manage and adhere to a marketing budget
  • All other duties and responsibilities as assigned

EVENT STRATEGY

  • Oversee Senior Events Manager and other event consultants to ensure all events and conference initiatives align with program goals and are within budget
  • Create a staff development plan for event staff to ensure they have the training, skills and resources to be effective in their role
  • Develop appropriate goals/objectives for this team and ensure they are exceeding expectations
  • Develop, manage and adhere to a event budgets
  • Provide strategic vision on ways to increase attendance and ticket sales for event and conferences driving revenue back to the company.
  • All other duties and responsibilities as assigned

TECHNOLOGY

  • Manage the development of an effective marketing automation platform to ensure appropriate individuals are receiving the correct information from regional, statewide, national, and global content initiatives
  • Own Marketings role within a CRM and work alongside the COO and VP of Technology to ensure all systems are effectively implemented and utilized (Salesforce, website, online forms, etc.)
  • Other projects as needed on an ad-hoc basis
  • All other duties and responsibilities as assigned

MEDIA RELATIONS

  • Serve as the point of contact for all media relations
  • Serve as the direct backup for all crisis communication efforts
  • All other duties and responsibilities as assigned

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

To perform this job successfully, an individual must have the following education and/or experience.

  • 5-10 years of direct marketing experience and growing a team
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, (marketing preferred)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are a must – verbal and written
  • Experience with investment management, business and/or entrepreneurial companies in a similar outreach role a plus
  • Experience with the development and workflows of marketing platforms is a plus. Knowledge of Pardot and Salesforce and how they interact is a plus.
  • Analytical skill and good judgment, with ability to gather and digest information quickly and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience in finance, accounting, information technology a plus
  • A valid driver’s license is required
  • Strong sensory skills, such as good eyesight, good hearing, and dexterity
  • Strong speaking and listening skills
  • Ability to perform focused work with close attention to detail
  • Ability to interact with others, both in person and through phone, e-mail, and written correspondence
