Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Safety Manager to lead the development and implementation of comprehensive safety programs for two dynamic companies in the oil and gas sector. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in safety management, particularly in wellhead operations, and a preference for military experience. This role will focus on fostering a culture of safety, ensuring regulatory compliance, and building a robust safety department from the ground up.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and manage safety policies and procedures in alignment with industry standards and regulations.
- Conduct risk assessments and safety audits to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions.
- Create and facilitate safety training programs for employees, ensuring compliance with OSHA and other regulatory requirements.
- Lead incident investigations, analyzing root causes and implementing preventative measures to reduce future occurrences.
- Collaborate with management and staff to promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
- Monitor and report on safety performance metrics, providing recommendations for enhancements.
- Ensure the proper documentation and reporting of safety-related incidents and compliance activities.
- Stay current on industry best practices, regulatory changes, and emerging safety trends.
- Build and manage a safety department, including recruiting, training, and mentoring safety personnel.
- Liaise with external stakeholders, including regulatory agencies and industry associations, to ensure compliance and promote safety initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field (preferred).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in safety management within the oil and gas industry, with a focus on wellhead operations.
- Certification in safety management (CSP, CIH, or equivalent) is highly desirable.
- Military background is preferred, demonstrating strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and other applicable safety standards.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence at all levels of the organization.
- Proven ability to develop and implement effective safety training programs.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
