What are the responsibilities and job description for the CROSSING GUARD position at Elk Grove?
The Elk Grove Village Police Department is seeking a crossing guard for Stevenson School. The Crossing Guard will ensure that schoolchildren and/or pedestrians crossing have adequate supervision when crossing the streets, before and after school hours. There are approximately two (2) crossings times per day 8:15 to 8:45am and 3:20 to 3:50pm Monday - Friday, but 2:15 to 2:45pm on Wednesdays for early dismissal.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Training and Experience: Must be 18 years or older. On-the-Job Training available. Previous Crossing Guard experience is a plus.
Knowledge and Skills: Must be reliable, dependable and punctual; ability to communicate information in speaking so others will understand; requires the ability to give instructions as well as take instructions when needed; requires the ability to work independently under minimal supervision; knowledge of the geography of the community, maintains a clean and neat appearance during working hours; ability to recognize potential problems or concerns, and communicate these issues to the Traffic Sergeant; ability to react quickly and calmly to emergency situations; ability to work outdoors in all types of weather; the ability to spend time standing and walking and using one’s arms to signal and/or use signs.
HOURS OF WORK: Approximately 10 hours/ week
SALARY RANGE:
- Two (2) Crossings per Day (probation period $176.05/Wk.)
