POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for the decontamination, preparation and sterilization of supplies, instruments and equipment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Completes workstation assignment by following the duty roster.
Decontaminates, prepares and sterilizes equipment and supplies in accordance with established Elliot Hospital and infection control policies and procedures.
Operates sterile processing equipment including steam, sterrad sterilizer, washer decontaminators, cart washer, ultrasonic's, and dryer.
Reports malfunctioning or defective equipment and or supplies to shift leader and or Manager immediately for follow up.
Assembles hospital instrument trays and labels appropriately.
Performs required record keeping including, but not limited to, steam and sterrad records along with biological monitoring records.
Responds to telephone request.
Assembles appropriate linen packs, inspects, delints and folds when necessary.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
Demonstrates competence in selecting the appropriate chemical solutions for sterile processing washers and operation of washers.
Knowledge of sterilization monitoring, record keeping and quality assurance protocols.
Working knowledge of sterilization equipment.
Knowledge of Elliot Hospital and infection control policies and procedures.
Good communication skills.
Knowledge of surgical instrumentation.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/LICENSURE
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience: One (1) to three (3) years of experience preferred.
