The Controller oversees the entire Accounting department and all accounting functions. This role maximizes return on financial assets by establishing financial policies, procedures, controls, and reporting systems.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Oversees the activities of the corporate accounting department for the accurate and timely dissemination of financial management reports including, but not limited to, internal and external monthly financial statements and annual audits and annual budgets
Oversees the development budgets of the deals under construction. There are typically 10-15 deals under construction at any given time. Each project will have a budget of $40-$75m.
Partner with our CPA firms to complete annual audits on all of our affordable housing projects. Currently we complete about 25 audits a year and that number increases annually.
Partner with our CPA firms to complete year end tax returns. There are approximately 200 returns that will be completed annually.
Work closely with Project Managers and the Construction team to ensure project success.
Participates in a wide variety of special projects and compiles a variety of special reports
Performs additional duties as assigned
Manage a team of 3-4 accountants
SPECIFIC EDUCATION OR EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
CPA certification preferred, but not required
Experience with Affordable Housing or Real Estate Development a plus
5-7 years of progressive experience

Temperature in the workplace is typically moderate, though the ability to withstand seasonal cold and heat of the outdoors is necessary
