Custodian/Cleaner

We are excited to be hiring an additional member for our janitorial team! This is a flexible position for candidates looking for a job that is easy to schedule into their daily routine, and primarily consists of morning janitorial/custodial work in the Petoskey area (two sites in particular). We can work with candidates to develop a custom schedule that works well for them, and can offer as many hours as they would like. Some weekends required. Potentially a great position for students or candidates looking for more hours in the summer and less in the fall and winter (to make time for classes). Also potentially a great position for those with parental responsibilities who want to work while their kids are in school and have the afternoons/evenings off.

Overview:
This position primarily consists of morning janitorial services at a local country club clubhouse, and morning janitorial services at a big box store in Petoskey. The country club is a seasonal account cleaned daily between May 1st and October 31st.
The big box store is a year-round account that we clean daily minus a few holidays. Cleaning both accounts in the morning would take about 5 hours. Compensation can be increased in the off-season after the seasonal account shuts down to offset the loss of hours. Additional hours are available year round, and especially in extremely busy months like July. This position also offers a flexible morning start time; employees are not expected to punch a clock down to the minute, and can arrive when convenient for them to a certain extent.

Duties:

• Perform general cleaning tasks such as dusting, mopping, sweeping, and vacuuming
• Clean and sanitize restrooms and replenish supplies
• Empty trash receptacles and transport waste to disposal area
• Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment
• Perform minor maintenance tasks
• Follow safety procedures and guidelines for handling cleaning chemicals
• Utilize a ride-on floor scrubbing machine

Requirements:

• Preferred experience in residential/commercial cleaning (not required but nice to have)
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Physical stamina to stand, bend, and lift throughout shift
• Responsibility and trustworthiness (ABSOLUTELY key to the position. We are looking for candidates who will take ownership of their duties.)
