POSITION SUMMARY

Manages and coordinates any and or all safety and environmental activities for all Embraer Aircraft Maintenance Services Inc. [EAMS] locations. Position ensures implementation of any all EH&S related programs throughout the facility.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supports Corporate safety initiatives throughout the organization
  • Leads, plans, develops, implements, and manages Safety and Environmental programs to reduce or eliminate occupational or environmental incidents.
  • Identifies hazardous workplace conditions in collaboration with area leadership and coordinates preliminary samples and measurements of hazardous forces and toxic substances.
  • Protects employees by reviewing and revising work procedures as identified using training and or requiring use of protective clothing and personal protective equipment.
  • Monitors workplace conditions to ensure compliance with applicable federal, state and regulatory agencies ensuring that all required records are prepared and maintained.
  • Monitors, reviews and keeps updated information on safety and environmental regulation changes.
  • Develops accident-prevention and loss-control systems and programs for incorporation into operational policies of organization.
  • Participates in and prepares for Occupational Safety Health Administration (OSHA) inspections and in any procedures that may follow a citation.
  • Investigates, prepares, and forwards as required reports on Safety and Environmental issues in the workplace.
  • Conducts OSHA and Environmental training courses.
  • Monitors and responsible for the Workers Compensation reporting with Workers Comp. vendor. Includes supporting internal investigations, and communication with the impacted employee(s) and or 3rd party vendor(s).

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Education:

  • Prefer Bachelor of Business Management or related field within EH&S.

Experience:

  • OSHA certification , ISO 18001, 14001 certification desirable;
  • Environmental DOT and Hazmat experience a plus.
  • Prefer 8 years of experience in EH&S role(s) and helpful if experience with a focus on Safety and Environmental in the aviation industry.
  • Experience in OSHA and EPA regulations as well as general industry standards.
  • ISO experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Must have knowledge or training in the following: occupational health, safety and environmental compliance with applicable federal and state regulations and standards.
  • Ability to develop, implement, and coordinate comprehensive health and safety accident prevention programs within the aviation industry.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of delivering hands on health, safety and environmental training.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written (training/presentations/report writing.)
  • Ability to lead and direct teams and/or committees.
  • Strong PC skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work at all levels within and organization
  • Ability to work in a diverse work group.
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills.

Working Conditions / Environment/ Special Requirements

  • Some travel may be required.
  • Ability to work in a safe professional manner adhering to all regulatory requirements including, OSHA, EPA, State and Federal regulations.
