The Opportunity Curtiss-Wright Fleet Solutions is comprised of three service centers that focus on the US Navy fleet support and maintenance market. The Fleet Solutions group provides turnkey overhaul / repair, testing, and parts sales for air compressors, main propulsion steam turbines, valves, steam turbine generators, auxiliary turbines, dehydrators, pumps, strainers, PLCs, and blowers. https://www.cw-ems.com/fleet-solutions/default.aspx Manual Machinist: The successful Machinist will be performing moderately complex assignments in support of our repair and maintenance of OEM equipment. Machinists will be required to perform a variety of related tasks including layout, set up, operating and making tool adjustments for various types of manual machine shop equipment. The Challenge: Manufacturing and inspecting detailed parts and tools from blueprints, sketches, drawings and verbal instructions using a variety of manual machining tools and equipment (mills, lathes, boring mills, drill presses, saws, grinders, and other machining equipment) and using mathematical and geometrical skills and calculations Determining how to set up and operate machines based on instructions received. Performing minor repairs of equipment Keeping work area clean and free from safety hazards Maintaining acceptable quality and efficiency level Completes required reports and QA Documents to go with the project Using and variety of measuring or layout tools such as verniers, micrometers, height gauges, dial indicators, gauge blocks, angle plates, V- blocks, bore and pitch gauges, protractors, squares and dividers Your Expertise: Must be US citizen and be able to obtain and maintain DOD security clearance 5 years machine shop experience and/or have completed a recognized apprenticeship as a General Machinist. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings Ability to machine as per drawing tolerance of .0005" where required Must be able to demonstrate General Machinist skills in the following areas: Lathe Milling Drilling Machine shop power and pneumatic tools Must be able to design and manufacture fixtures and template Must be able to make own layouts as per drawing Must be able to understand GD&T tolerances Experience operating forklifts, cranes, plate clamps and slings a plus Expected to have or purchase basic hand tools. The ability to work overtime when necessary and travel up to 25% is also a must.
