Application Developer (Business Analytics)
Overview
Business analysis, application architecture, design, development, integration, and delivery. Application maintenance and support.
Under general direction and coaching, modifies moderately complex applications from detailed specifications. Codes, tests, debugs, documents, and maintains those programs. Participates in technical design, development, and implementation of applications but focus is on post-design phases of application development life cycle. Develops documentation including installation and operating procedures, data flow diagrams and flowcharts. Other duties may be assigned.
Description
Design, create and maintain departmental application and tools to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and auditability. The application developer will provide support to existing productions applications and perform complex technical analysis, design, development, documentation, testing, and deployment.
Other responsibilities include support for non-hospital facility rate loading and maintenance, evaluating business decisions, problem analysis and reimbursement policy changes. In addition to working with management and other internal departments to implement and assess developments.
Other responsibilities may include supporting business analysts on new application functionality and use, debugging and testing applications, and creating documentation of technical process flows.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in healthcare related field preferred.
Minimum one (1) to three (3) years related experience preferred.
Excellent analytical, organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
Critical thinking skills in Business and IT areas of focus
Operate in an IT focused role but also to support Business role
Other related skills and/or abilities may be required to perform this job.
Department Requirements:
• Experience developing advanced applications in Microsoft Access, using most of the features (not just wizards), including VBA and access server-based databases in text files and Microsoft Excel.
• Experience in relational database design
• Experience in SQL server development, including creation and use of Transact-SQL scripts and SQL integration services
• Experience in creating and maintaining HTML source code, including use of CSS and JavaScript
• Experience in developing code for Excel workbooks
• Knowledge/understanding of web tools and healthcare a plus Knowledge of one or more software development language(s) at an advanced level is preferred
• Proven ability to work independently or in a structured team environment on multiple concurrent projects within aggressive timeframes and minimal supervision.
• Ability to use creative thinking to resolve problems and offer innovative solutions to business problems
• Knowledge of the health insurance industry is preferred
• Excellent analytical, organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
