Here's what you'll do:
Manage the lifecycle of analytics business cases from gathering requirements, sourcing data, proposing and iterating solutions, visualization, delivery and on-going data maintenance for cross-functional teams within Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan (BCBSM) and its subsidiaries.
- Responsible for the design, development, and implementation of advanced analytics to generate insights and/or build solutions for business cases that will optimize business objectives.
- Provide leadership, coaching and development to a team supporting advanced analytics to maximize resources, manage workloads and ensure on-time deliverables.
- Define and enhance advanced analytics framework by maintaining knowledge through continuous learning to ensure incorporation of best practices, platforms, tools and techniques.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align business case objectives, cost-benefit analysis, visualizations, solutions to achieve the optimal business outcome, etc.
- Develop individual business case strategies to include: structuring the business problem into a mathematical formulation, creation of set of tasks to execute, task sequencing, potential algorithms, diagnostic techniques, etc.
- Ensure adherence to data governance while improving data accuracy and efficiency.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Data Science, Statistics, Economics, Engineering, Computer Science, Operations Research or related field is required. Master’s degree or PHD in related field is preferred.
- A minimum of seven (7) years of related work experience is required.
- Previous experience programming (2 or more languages) is required.
- Previous experience leading projects and/or teams is required.
- Previous experience working in the healthcare and/or consulting industry is preferred.
- Advanced knowledge of big data platforms (i.e. Map/Reduce, YARN, HDFS, etc.), query building (i.e. PL/SQL, HIVE, Impala, Spark, etc.), programming (i.e. R, Python, C, Java, Ruby, etc.) and visualization tools (i.e. QlikView, Tableau, Web FOCUS, etc.).
- Advanced statistical modeling skills (i.e. linear and non-linear regression, neural networks, logistic regression, decision trees, gradient boosting machines, support vector machines, random forests, etc.)
- Strong knowledge of statistical testing techniques (i.e. t-tests, chi-squared, ANOVA, etc.).
- Intermediate skills in Microsoft Access, Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
- Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to effectively interface and present to management at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
- Ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
