Superintendent | Underground Utilities

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

General duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Coordinate scheduling of labor and equipment, subcontractors, consultants, inspectors and vendors to complete each project on time
• Understanding and maintaining budgets and cost-analysis
• Monitor work and materials to ensure quality control standards are met at various stages of the project
• Communicate with the project team and support each subcontractor to execute their job duties effectively and efficiently
• Perform inspections or schedule inspectors to meet the varying safety and compliance regulations of each job
• Maintain daily logs of visitors, job actions performed, materials expended, and problems resolved on the job site
• Travel between multiple job sites and simultaneously manage work loads of multiple projects
• Identify and resolve problems and conflicts, organizing meetings and cooperating with team members in various roles as necessary
• Coordinate materials and equipment delivery with vendors and suppliers
• Create schedules for workers and subcontractors
• Schedule subcontractors as needed and communicate with them in advance to avoid delays in operation
• Coordinate changes in the operation as necessary to best meet construction deadlines
• Implement management techniques that are cost-effective and efficient
• other duties as assigned

REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES:

• In-depth knowledge of construction procedures, equipment and OSHA guidelines
• Ability to read drawings, plans and blueprints
• Detail-oriented with excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines
• Ability to organize and assign responsibility to crew members in an efficient manner
• Possess strong math and analytical skills
• You have experience with managing self-perform crews on construction projects that include earthwork, structures, concrete/asphalt paving and underground utilities
• You have an understanding of construction equipment, including safe operating practices and signs of maintenance issues
• You have a strong customer focus
• You have an in-depth understanding of local, state and federal construction regulations
• Ability to quickly process information and make decisions
• Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
• Take initiative and prioritize tasks: organizational, problem-prevention and problem-solving skills
• Dependable and able to work independently with little supervision as well as with a team of individuals
• Basic mechanical skills required
• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Must have reliable transportation and the ability to travel extensively
• Must have the ability to work extended hours as required by the workload
• Must have a valid driver's license with a clean driving record

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum of 5 years experience in Civil Construction, both in public and private markets
• At least two years of related experience as a Superintendent is required
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification

• You have a sense of humor (big plus)
