What are the responsibilities and job description for the Superintendent | Underground Utilities position at Emery Sapp & Sons?
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
General duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Coordinate scheduling of labor and equipment, subcontractors, consultants, inspectors and vendors to complete each project on time
- Understanding and maintaining budgets and cost-analysis
- Monitor work and materials to ensure quality control standards are met at various stages of the project
- Communicate with the project team and support each subcontractor to execute their job duties effectively and efficiently
- Perform inspections or schedule inspectors to meet the varying safety and compliance regulations of each job
- Maintain daily logs of visitors, job actions performed, materials expended, and problems resolved on the job site
- Travel between multiple job sites and simultaneously manage work loads of multiple projects
- Identify and resolve problems and conflicts, organizing meetings and cooperating with team members in various roles as necessary
- Coordinate materials and equipment delivery with vendors and suppliers
- Create schedules for workers and subcontractors
- Schedule subcontractors as needed and communicate with them in advance to avoid delays in operation
- Coordinate changes in the operation as necessary to best meet construction deadlines
- Implement management techniques that are cost-effective and efficient

REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- In-depth knowledge of construction procedures, equipment and OSHA guidelines
- Ability to read drawings, plans and blueprints
- Detail-oriented with excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines
- Ability to organize and assign responsibility to crew members in an efficient manner
- Possess strong math and analytical skills
- You have experience with managing self-perform crews on construction projects that include earthwork, structures, concrete/asphalt paving and underground utilities
- You have an understanding of construction equipment, including safe operating practices and signs of maintenance issues
- You have a strong customer focus
- You have an in-depth understanding of local, state and federal construction regulations
- Ability to quickly process information and make decisions
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
- Take initiative and prioritize tasks: organizational, problem-prevention and problem-solving skills
- Dependable and able to work independently with little supervision as well as with a team of individuals
- Basic mechanical skills required
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Must have reliable transportation and the ability to travel extensively
- Must have the ability to work extended hours as required by the workload
- Must have a valid driver's license with a clean driving record
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 5 years experience in Civil Construction, both in public and private markets
- At least two years of related experience as a Superintendent is required
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
- You have a sense of humor (big plus)

Salary : $67,500 - $85,500
