Studio Manager

STUDIO MANAGER for immediate hire

Work one-on-one with a professional artist and learn the full range of skills behind a successful studio practice. Full-time employee given the unique chance to wear many hats and take on self-directed responsibilities during significant studio expansion. This close mentorship provides a 360-degree view of studio life and work. Employee will learn project management, interpersonal professional communications, business strategy, and studio operations.

Tasks include but not limited to:

Exhibition Preparations

• Liaison between gallery and studio (regarding budgets, shipping, collateral, press, etc)
• Schedule internal deadlines; crafting project calendars
• Coordinate framing and sculpture fabrication between studio, printers, and foundry
• Research and compile contracts

Studio Operations

• Structure daily tasks as well as strategize for studio's immediate, 5-yr, and long-term goals
• Apply for grants, awards, residencies on behalf of studio.
• Archive portfolio, press, collateral and set up studio server
• Coordinate and prep for studio migration
• Generate creative briefs; proofread content
• Respond to inquiry emails
• Social Media
• Assist in hiring: painting assistants, software tutors
• Assist in partnerships with animators, fabricators, printers
• Find new opportunities for studio

Painting and Preparatory Assistance

• Organize and clean studio
• Stretch canvases and surface prep (gesso, oil ground)
• Wash brushes
• Underpainting, mix and color-match oil paint
• Document studio and paintings
• Minor studio construction

Ideal Candidate:

• Intelligent, motivated, self-sufficient, and has a track record of meeting goals
• Multitasker with an attention to details and deadlines
• Capable insightful writer and proofreader
• Warm, patient, affable email tone
• 1-2 years administrative experience
• > 2years of experience oil painting
• Proficient in Photoshop, Word, Google Drive Suite
• Preference given to artists

Regular business hours: M-F, 9am-6pm. Requires car/ transportation. Studio located in Paramount. Safe parking in gated lot.
